Dog locked up in abandoned house for weeks after Hurricane Harvey survives

When Hurricane Harvey charged into Texas,  many families were forced to leave their homes, but was that an excuse to tie, lock up a dog and abandon her – never to return? For weeks, Bevy survived in a trash filled roach infected, abandoned home. For weeks, Bevy had been trapped between two pieces of metal unable to escape and barely move. For weeks, Bevy somehow survived.

When rescuers heard about the dog’s desperate plight, they carefully waded through the filth to rescue her. In the short video shown below, a flashlight helps the German shepherd’s rescuer locate the starving dog. Although the woman who saved the defenseless shepherd had been frightened to enter and couldn’t see her, she could hear the dog’s tail flapping with excitement against her metal prison as her rescuer approached. The woman never gave up; she was this dog’s hero. And then volunteers called Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, who immediately volunteered to help.

Finally freed, Bevy was rushed to the Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital in Spring, Texas where her embedded collar had to be removed. She remains in critical condition, and it is hoped she will survive. On Monday afternoon, the dog’s condition was updated:

“At Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital -on an IV and having her neck wound surgically repaired. Thank goodness we saved Bevy when we did or she would have died from loss of blood and infection.”

Get well soon sweet dog. (Photos and video for dog locked up for weeks, courtesy of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC)

With you 100 Percent. Animal abusers deserve eye for an eye justice. They have to feel the pain of these poor innocent animals. Animals need justice! Most humans are worthless…

Count me in – ANYONE, I mean ANYONE who abandons their animal and only care about their own safety deserves no help whatsoever – Those are the ones who should be turned away from any shelter and left to drown and rot. Thank God there was someone who saved this dog – some so called ‘humans’ would and should be dead. I hope this poor dog recovers and gets the safe loving home he definitely never had.

Thank you to the sweet lady who saved this beauty. AND hopefully, the owners/chicken sh**s of that house will be located and fined HEAVILY for abandoning their sweet dog so callously!

Charges need to be filed! Clearly something could have been done , and no attempt to save them. Others continue to risk their lives and spend thousands of $$$ to rescue when it would have been so much easier to move them“ even temporarily!

All they have to do is get the names of those assholes who left their dogs, arrest them and lock them is solitary confinement with no food no water and they can crap all over themselve and hopefully guards will laugh at them while those bastards suffer.

One of how many pet owners did this. Would it have been so hard to let someone know what you did with your pet so someone could rescue them? What type of human does this to another living being? Those owners, if found, there must be some consequence for what they did. Yes, they lost their homes, but they have their lives yet their pets could have died, and many may have. Heartless.

There was NO reason for anyone to leave their pets behind! They must know who was living in the house, find them arrest them and make them pay for the care of THEIR dog! Again it’s Rescue Dogs Rock NYC to the rescue of yet another dog in Texas!

I think the owners of the home, who took off and deliberately left the dog are hard-hearted sociopathic betrayers. According to some Texas police captains, there will be high fines and prosecution of all residents who abandoned their dogs on tethers and in homes. Karma is coming for the “human” demons. May that poor dog, who suffered so much, be re-homed with normal people who will love that strong, sweet pup.

Someone that can go off and leave an animal like that and not have a conscience about it deserves to loose everything they have. And they wonder why things like this happen to them. I know why you don’t treat anything like that. God is gonna make you pay for it. God help all those poor babies that were just left to die. ????

I have a dog who was once abused and honestly I can’t understand why she is the sweetest animal alive and I love her so much. She is from Texas. Everyday I wish I knew the person who had hurt her but it’s probably for the best as I would definitely and up in jail. But the lighter side she’s now a spoiled princess who gets everything she deserves and is never without food or water and her many toys she picks out we go once a week and she gets to pick out more snacks and toys . I’d leave my kids before my dog (not really wouldn’t leave either) but she listens better
