A young dog, still just a pup at 10 months of age, is in need of a helping hand at an animal shelter in New York. Albie, a red nose pit bull, is depressed and stressed at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter.

On November 4, the Long Island Pit Stop Animal Rescue featured Albie in a Facebook post which reads:

10 Month Old GORGEOUS Red Nose in Smithtown Animal Shelter needs out NOW!!! Found covered in tar!! He is stressed in the kennels dropping weight! He is very DOG Friendly and very well mannered!

Though many Facebook users have liked, shared and commented on the post, as of Thursday, the stressed pup is still sitting in his kennel run, waiting to be saved. Being locked away is hard on any dog – especially an energetic puppy who wants (and needs) to play, run and be loved.

According to the biography on the shelter’s website, Albie is a friendly boy!

Albie is a handsome 1 year old red nosed Pitbull puppy. He’s a smart, sweet happy boy that gets along with other dogs. Albie is looking for a home without cats. Children over 12 years old is recommended. He is a big, strong and smart boy who is still learning his manners quickly! C17-10-11

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you need to do more than “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. What a handsome pup. Do hope he didn’t swallow tar. Has that been looked at? Hugs to him. Too far away and i am too old but he would sure dress up my big yard. He needs family and kids. Got room?

  2. PLEASE some kindhearted person step up for Albie -he is just a baby -has suffered horribly and deserves a safe loving home – you will never regret it – he is a gorgeous sweet dog.
