A dog who was unable to walk was dragged by her owner in Simpsonville, South Carolina – according to Monday’s Fox Carolina 21, the dog did not survive. The dog’s owner, identified as Christopher Lee Thompson, now is facing a charge for ill treatment of animals.

Thompson’s cruel actions on July 18 resulted in his dog’s death – according to the authorities, the dog, a female pit bull, died of heat stroke on the 85-degree day. Police contend that Thompson’s actions were committed “knowingly and intentionally.”

Thompson has been arrested – no word on when he will have to appear in court.

Dogs owned by careless owners have been paying with their life this summer – recently, a dog who was desperate to reach shade choked to death in Great Falls, South Carolina (read here) and two dogs (belonging to two different owners) died in Toledo, Ohio, because they were left to suffering in the heat (read here).

  1. Why you evil creep did you do this poor doggie I hope someone drags you in the hot desert & leaves you to die evil mean creep ???? Rest In heaven little doggie bg

  2. My dogs only get walked early in the morning or after the sun is going down when the temperatures are high. When temps get too high, they get their exercise by chasing toys in the house and just going outside long enough to potty in our back yard. We have trees and a gazebo and there’s shade from the house itself and the deck, so they never have to be in the sun unless they want to. I can’t even imagine taking a dog out in the extreme heat we’ve been having lately. Even more so, I can’t imagine dragging a dog along – I’ve picked up a 60+ pound dog and carried her home when she stepped on some grass and got stung by a bee. I hope this monster not only gets a hefty fine and some serious jail time, but that he’s banned from ever having another animal of any kind. RIP, sweet dog. You didn’t deserve this.

  3. No one stopped this thing from doing this! How sad is that? What the hell kind of justice will be handed down in this case? Nothing short of jail and massive fines! This is one more case that brings to light the lax cruelty laws and how they must be changed! This little one died because this thing intentionally killed her! Now he must be punished! If not by the law then other ways will be implimented!

  4. His charge is ill treatment of animals? U have got to be kidding me!!! Call it what it is….cruel, brutal, intentional torture! I see a small slap on the wrist coming! The wording of the charge reflects a non punishment, the standard fine and probation! Boy that will teach him not to repeat this kind of torture,I’d be shaking in my boots if I was facing a fine and probation…..what a joke!! RIP POOR BABY

  5. Let the punishment fit the crime – drag Christopher Lee Thompson across the asphalt naked and in 85 degree heat just like he dragged an innocent dog to its death and see how he likes being treated like trash – this ahole deserves NO MERCY!

  6. Hopefully he will get jail time and a huge fine! I hope they don’t sweep it under the rug. RIP little one, your life did matter!

  7. This poor dog couldn’t walk and this evil bastard drags her to her death. This is depraved and this repulsive piece of shit needs max punishment not a slap on the wrist.
