Despite efforts from veterinarians and soft-hearted people, a dog abandoned at Bucaramanga Airport in Columbia, died from a broken heart after pining away for her owner’s return over four weeks.
According to the Daily Mail, people concerned about at the airport named the black and white dog with the saddest face, Nube Viajera, which means “traveling cloud.” Everyone tried to care for the dog; as she waited and waited. During her first month, Nube Viajera would slowly walk through the airport as if searching for someone; most people believed she continued to look for her owner. And as the days and weeks moved on, she stopped eating – she was just too sad. Alejandro Sotomonte Nino, a local veterinarian from the Colombian Animal Protection Foundation, set her up with an intravenous drip for hydration and nutrients.
“Apparently, during the first month that the dog was at the airport, it was going through the halls looking for someone, possibly the owner. That state of waiting deteriorated its health, to the point that she no longer received food.”
“The dog showed a detriment in a matter of 48 hours, even though we gave her food and medicine via intravenous injection, she fell into sadness and depression and did not survive,” stated Dr. Nino.
Oh how this poor girl suffered emotionally and physically when she just gave up, crawled into the corner and passed away. After she died, vets examined her body and stated she died from extreme depression.
Rest in peace Nube Viajera. We are saddened by your untimely death. You were a good dog.
