A dispute between animal rescuers in Marion County, Texas, has ended with one woman’s death. According to Tuesday’s News-Journal, the sheriff’s office was called out to property on Storie Road on Monday morning – the caller reported that dogs were on her property, attacking her animals.

When deputies arrived, they found signs of a physical altercation as well as one deceased woman who has been identified as 54-year-old Amy Allen. The other woman at the scene, identified as 35-year-old Amber Long, was arrested and jailed on a murder charge.

Marion County Sheriff David McKnight stated that the women were neighbors with a tumultuous past,

“Both of these subjects had animal rescue operations. It is my understanding that they were once in business together, operating at Ms. Allen’s residence. At some point within the last year, Ms. Long acquired the nearby property and started her own operation. We had answered several calls at each property, mostly involving trespassing issues.”

Shortly after Allen’s death, a post was made on her Facebook page about an unexpected emergency and the need for all animals on the ranch to be moved immediately. A subsequent post, apparently made by Allen’s daughter, indicated that all remaining animals were going to the Humane Society of North Texas for care.

The cause of Allen’s death has not yet been determined – her body has been sent for an autopsy.

  1. OMG! What the hell!!! Animal rescuers usually work together and are not in competition with each other,it’s about the animals after all! Would love to be updated on just what exactly happened!!

    • No.
so called back yard rescures/ hoarders do not work together. They usually hate each other.
      Your confused.
You think these are legitiment rescue!?
They are not. These were 2 animal nuts. Who used to love each other .And now hated each other and became repeated public nuances to each other.

the killer set out to ruin her at all cost and eventually killed her.
Both hoarding operations will be exposed and all animals will end up in kill shelters. This is texas.
I know you couldn’t possibly understand these things. You asked so you needed to know.
That’s is what was, what is and what will be.
      You asked exactally what happened.
That’s what happened and what will happen.
Here’s your reality check. Now what are you going to do about it?

      • ellen hello. From what I know Amy Allen did have a rescue called Rebel Rescue Ranch. Besides dogs that are left there are horses as well. We don’t know the full extent of the story, however, I was told by some. Very familiar with dog rescues that it can end up being an ego situation. No pun intended, but, it fits you know the saying it can be a doggy……

      • I know Linda. I can imagine how it all started. With kindness and concern for animals in need. And 2 woman who are drawn together as partners to get animals off the streets and then it became overwhelming .this is a story about 2 people who devoted all the time money and energy
        and eventually snapped.
Thank you for reminding me they are actually real people and not just a story.

  2. How sad that two women who professed to be animal “rescues” would have a dispute that would escalate to the point one woman was killed. Now the animals have nobody! Has it come to the point that everything has to be settled with violence?

  3. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of drama in animal rescue. You are dealing with different personalities, different ways of doing rescue (and, believe me, there are some who think unless you are doing every single thing exactly the way they are, you are wrong), and too many people involved in rescue, not for the animals, but for their own egos. When you are involved in rescue, you need to always put the animals first. To hell with the drama. Drama costs animals their lives.

    • I would say in this case “drama” cost this woman her life. The worst part is, what happens to all the animals these women have “saved”? Their personal vendetta obviously out weighed their concern about the animals, as you said their drama will most likely cost some of these animals their lives.

  4. Well, apparently the welfare of animals was not a top priority between these two women. This is NOT how real rescuers should act – the animals come first, always.

  5. This is just plain stupid!!!! Why would you let this happen!!! You should have just left each other alone, now one is dead and the other is in Prison!!!!
