Pregnant dog scheduled to die

Update 5/6/17 – According to rescue coordinator, Garganzola has been tagged for rescue!

A beautiful pregnant dog, described as a “dime a dozen”  on the streets of Corpus Christi, Texas, is about to lose her life. The Labrador retriever mix, named ” Garganzola,” (yes you read that correctly) must be out of the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS) facility on May 5…

Hours ago, the volunteer-run Facebook page, Nueces County, TX: Dogs in need of Rescue page, wrote the following dire words about Garganzola’s situation:

PREGNANT and on Saturday, DEAD!
Over crowded shelter, tons of brown dogs, no rescue interest, so she dies since pregnant dogs are a dime a dozen on the streets of Corpus Christi and the pound is no place to give birth.
Crappy name to boot. Garganzola (A286076) would probably be a good mom given the chance. This brown lab mix and the puppies she is probably carrying has been given a due out date of May 6, instead of a due date. YUP this is it. No babies for this girl.

Garganzola did not ask to be born a “common” brown dog – she certainly did not ask to be locked away while pregnant and if she could, she would plead for her life, and the lives of her unborn puppies, to be saved.

Information from the cross-posting Facebook page:

To adopt go in person m-F 1-5 pm Location: Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS), 2626 Holly Road Corpus Christi, Texas

  1. This poor baby, im sure she hasn’t asked to be locked in a kennel run or to have babies…
I am full and far away. Someone please save her..she’s not common and not a dime a dozen. Each of them needs the chance to shine…please give her a chance. She wants a family …im so sad for her. Don’t let her be a throw away momma…give her your heart you will be rewarded i promise…i have TWO throw away mommas…and the love they have in them shines brighter than the sun on a perfect day…PLEASE HELP HER.

  2. ALL dogs/cats deserve a chance to live – they are the victims of cruel uncaring humans who dump them for selfish reasons and these innocent animals end up in a shelter that is unable or unwilling to give them the care and/or sufficient time to be rescued or adopted. Garganzola deserves to have a life as do her pups. PLEASE some rescue come through for her – she did nothing wrong – she is a victim – PLEASE RESCUE HER.

  3. I hope Corpus Christi Animal Care Services are proud of the way they treat these “dime a dozen” dogs. It’s not her fault she is pregnant and what about the horrible name they gave her? I will pray someone sees her for the amazing girl she is and saves her and her unborn puppies.

  4. I SURE HOPE the individual from THAT “NO STAR OF TEXAS” posts me again asking WHY I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH TEXAS:::::THIS TIS AVBOUT THE #1 REASON ASSHOLE !!! TEXAS ( oh excuse Me ) is not the #1 State for Abuse it is #2 !!!!! Now tell us all how wonderful the STATE is and LOOK INTO the EYES of this ANIMAL that is going to DIE TOMORROW in THAT GREAT STATE you are so FUCKING PROUD OF!!! HONESTLY this IS NOTHING SHORT OF SADISTIC!!!

    • I have to agree with you sir and I live in Corpus Christi Tx which means Body of Christ. It’s not a big town but there are so many dogs running loose, it makes me sick. I guess the owners think when their puppies they are cute but as they start to grow the sorry owners don’t want to train them or exercise them so they drop them off on the streets. If anyone in Corpus denies this just start driving around.

  5. Amen Pennysdaschund……how on earth does a dog get to that state of pregnancy and then all of a sudden when about to have babies Is scheduled to be killed. They should be e charged with cruelty x how many puppies she would have. Someone please pull this sweetie and save her and her babies.????????????????????????????I wish i could I’m here in canada

  6. This is a horrible situation for this poor kid to be in i had a rescue agency call, they couldnt get thru the number given is not accepting messages! The mailbox is full so i have no idea how else to get thru! Hopefully someone has come forward and she and her unborn babies are safe!

  7. Praying for her freedom, how sad for this lovely girl. Surprise tha t th are is no network for a rescue to save her. Sharing with love and prayers

  8. I have ALWAYS felt that our law makers and the judicial system operate with the attitude that if one dog dies at the hands of an abuser or in our dog killing shelter system that there are plenty more out there to replace the dog that died, hence the continual denial to our communities for good anti cruelty laws and the disgusting lack of punishment if caught abusing or killing a dog! The indifference and “it’s just a dog” attitude is deplorable!!! This BROWN dog is beautiful and her life needs to be respected and valued! I think my car has better protection in the eyes of the law than the dogs out in society! Praying for this beautiful girl! So immoral and so sad!!

  9. Yay, she has been tagged for rescue!!!!! God Bless the Person/Rescue who is saving her….please post her freedom ride.

  10. Can you write a story about the fact that Nueces County is going to close their shelter for a while so they are killing all the animals????!!!! I read that at the Facebook link in the above article!!
