A deaf puppy was shot and killed after he ate a Florida man’s shoe – according to Tuesday’s WOKV News, the nine-month-old pup, named “Kilo,” was gunned down by a man dating his owner’s sister.
In a petition seeking justice for Kilo’s death, the puppy’s owner recounted what happened on August 15:
My deaf 9 month old American Bullador (Kilo) was shot and killed by my wife’s (Linda Duncan) sisters’ (Brenda Duncan) boyfriend (Jerrold Burnham) for chewing up his shoe while left at the house by himself. Not only did he go overboard but he tried to claim the dog bit him and he shot in self defense which does not support the evidence.
The local Jacksonville authorities did find evidence supporting the shooter’s claim that the puppy tried to attack him, in fact, not only did the man have no physical evidence of being hurt by the pup, but the bullet wounds indicate that the puppy was shot in the back.
The shooter has been cited for the shooting, but Kilo’s owners don’t feel that the punishment fits the crime. Duncan told WOKV, “I want him to go to jail for murdering my dog,” Duncan said. “If he’s going to shoot a dog over a pair of shoes, who else is he going to shoot?”
