A disturbing discovery, indicative of potential animal cruelty, was made on Tuesday afternoon in the River Thurne at Potter Heigham, reported Wednesday’s publication of the BBC U.K.
The body of a German shepherd was pulled from the river – the dog was tethered by a blue rope to a concrete mud weight. Horrified witnesses who saw the dog in the water rushed to save him, but the dog was dead.
The RSPCA is investigating the situation – until a necropsy is complete, nobody knows if the dog was alive or dead when someone put him (or her) into the water. RSPCA deputy chief inspector Ben Kirby is quoted in the BBC publication:
“This is a potentially an extremely despicable act if this poor dog was still alive when it went into the water. And this would mean it was premeditated cruelty of the highest order.
He added:
“If the post mortem shows that this dog was dead then this was still a morally inappropriate way to dispose of a body.”

Horrific!!! I wish this poor dog could get justice
I hope you find who did this and give them the same treatment!!!
This makes me sick, if they did indeed drown this dog then there is no hope for their souls!
Please find the scumbag that did this! The fear that this dog went through is just horrendous!
If the perp is caught, he gets the same end!

Sick People. The more People I Meet, The more I Like my Dog.
This is NOT a sick person – it is a cruel miserable poor example of a human being. Does not matter one bit if the dog was dead before being dumped in the water – whoever did this should have the same thing done to them and get the same mercy they gave this poor dog – NONE!
No moral compass! A real sicko
Please, justice for this innocent. Find the amoral thing that did the deed. Whether the dog was dead or not when weighted down, it was evil Keep us posted please.

What do they mean potential animal cruelty. Of course, this was . Had the dog been dead, they wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of anchoring it down with weight. For that matter, why not at least bury the dog. This sounds too nuts to be the way an animal lover would say goodbye to a loving companion. This had to be intentional cruelty.
