An Army veteran, who suffers from PTSD, was ambushed outside of his Bronx, New York, home by two men who stole his service dog. According to the New York Daily News, the incident took place on the morning of May 14 at Valentine Ave. and East 194th St. in Fordham Manor and it was captured on surveillance video.

The victim, 40-year-old Robert Lebron, was hit multiple times in the head after one man jumped him from behind – his eight-month-old pup, a pit bull named “Mala,” was taken away by the men, reported the New York Post.

The disturbing incident was apparently carried out by at least one person that Lebron knew – police were able to identify one of the suspects as Brian Cohen – an ex-boyfriend of Lebron’s wife.

Lebron is devasted over the loss of Mala – he told Pix 11, “What she gives me I can’t get from someone else: not a therapist or a family member or my friend. He added, “it’s unconditional love.”

Anyone with information about Mala’s whereabouts, or this case, should call  \Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

  1. Right Linda. Thinking the same thing…. BASTARDS!!!Try working you assholes instead of living off fighting dogs!!!!

  2. Since Mala is a Female maybe they took her for breeding!!! With the man’s name available the Law Enforcement should not have a problem finding Him at the very least….. This whole thing sounds a little like ” Sardines that have Spoiled”!!!

  3. I really hope this man gets his dog back ptsd is bad enough but now to have the worry of what has or is happening to his dog could push someone over the edge. I pray he and his dog r going to be reunited.

  4. Agree with you Linda & Pennysdachshund, let us all hope Mala is found unharmed soon.

Can you even imagine what this innocent girl is thinking? Who are these strangers & smells nothing is familiar, I want my compassionate human companion.

Mala never knew negative or fear till now

  5. “What [Mala] gives me I can’t get from someone else — not a therapist or a family member or my friend,” Lebron told WPIX-TV, fighting back tears. “It’s unconditional love.”

I didn’t want to fight. I didn’t know if they had a weapon,” Lebron told the station. “I didn’t want my dog getting hurt.”

  6. A large reward needs to be posted and Brian Cohen needs to be held in police custody UNTIL he gives up the other maggots and gets Mala rescued. She will most definitely be used as bait if not found ASAP. Perfect example of subhumans who should be eliminated.
