How many people walked by Snoopy in a South Texas neighborhood and saw the huge tumor hanging from the dog’s underbelly? He suffers from a massive hernia that made it nearly impossible to walk – still no one ever stopped to help him. Relief finally came for Snoopy on Wednesday afternoon when an animal advocate and rescuer used her phone camera to video Snoopy’s heartbreaking plight. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC were alerted; co-founder Stacey Silverstein responded immediately:

“This nameless, faceless dog has been wandering the South Texas streets for a long time. Many people saw him, watched for weeks and months as he dragged that tumor around, hardly able to walk and did nothing. Today we were called to help him. We could not let this atrocity continue another minute so we agreed to help this dog who we have named Snoopy. He now has a name and an identity,” Stacey posted on the group’s Facebook page.

Snoopy was then rushed to the organization’s emergency veterinarian hospital in Texas for life saving treatment. On Thursday morning, it was decided that Snoopy will be transported to New York City for specialized surgery for the enormous hernia apparently left untreated for years. Sadly, there is more to Snoopy’s story:

“It has been confirmed by The ER Hosp in Texas that Snoopy suffers from head trauma and was most definitely hit by a car multiple times. Our hearts break for poor Snoopy knowing how he has suffered,” added Stacey.

Please help with Snoopy’s medical expenses. No dog should have to suffer because of someone’s heartless and cruel treatment. Although it is a sad reality that many dog owners can not afford expensive surgery for their dogs when an emergency occurs, that in no way excuses anyone from opening the door and pushing one’s pet outside to fend for himself as someone did to Snoopy.

Worry no more Snoopy – people really do care and you will be receiving the best medical and emotional care possible. Many thanks to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC; please help them to continue their work by making a donation:

  1. It takes a rescue organization from New York City to save this dog in Texas. Texas should be ashamed of themselves for not stepping up for these dogs left to fend for themselves, Many of us are faced with expensive treatments for our dogs and yet some how manage to get them what they need!

  2. Snoopy is a survivor. Can’t help but love him. Hope he gets a great family to help him through. NYC Rescue Dogs Rock is an amazing group to help those in such need. Good idea to leave a bit of estate funds to help the good groups such as these. Get ratings before you decide as there are some groups that make claims and just use monies for very large salaries. Find a good one and give all you can. Pets are family and deserve decent care instead of being put on the street for someone else to care for.

    • Vicki, I have no children or other descendants. ALL of my estate will go to animal rescue groups (mostly dog rescues as I love dogs the most).

  3. Thank you RDR for stepping in to take Snoopy under your wing. I pray for Snoopy’s full recovery and for him to have a forever home that will love and take care of him.
As for Snoopy’s owner who abandoned this poor pup, may you find yourself homeless sick and hungry living on the street where by-passers walk by without giving you a glance.

  4. Again Texas – HOW could anyone just walk past this poor dog and do nothing??????? His condition was very obvious and to just pretend you don’t see it or don’t care only shows the total lack of humanity in some people. This poor animal suffered terribly and no one cared – what a bunch of soulless skanks live in Texas –

  5. Bless this babies sweetheart. THANK YOU to the angels who saved him and are working to help him. May God bless you, your family and this sweet baby.

  6. Thanks RDR, for another selfless rescue. It takes a New York rescue facility to save a dog from Texas. Amazing!. I realize that Texas is a place with thousands of dogs living on the streets and the rescues there do what they can, but what about politicians, Federal,State and local? Can’t they do anything to stop what is happening to the dogs there? How can people who live there actually see an animal in this condition and just walk away without calling some rescue group or some facility who can help this poor dog? What type of country do we live in that this seems to happen more and more to dumped animals like Snoopy, especially in Texas.
