William Dodson’s Parole denied#justiceforCaitlyn#IamCaitlyn

In Charleston, South Carolina, the man who committed one of the most heinous acts of animal cruelty to a puppy dubbed Caitlyn by tightly duct taping her muzzle so she couldn’t bark, eat or drink nearly three years ago, will soon be eligible for parole. William Leonard Dodson, 43, had been sentenced in the United States District Court for 15 years.

On May 27, 2015, Caitlyn arrived at Charleston Animal Society in critical condition. The Staffordshire bull terrier’s story went global after she was found with her tongue sticking out and swollen to twice its size. The electrical tape had been wrapped around her snout nine times. During an investigation into Caitlyn’s egregious cruel treatment, a witness told authorities that Dodson had complained the puppy barked too much after purchasing her for $20. When the dog broke free of her chain, she wandered off and was found as a stray. During her rehabilitation, Caitlyn lost part of her tongue and underwent repeated surgeries to enable her to recuperate. The dog has since become the namesake for abused animals through the Charleston Animal Society; her fund pays for veterinary care for dogs involved in cruelty and neglect cases.

Dodson’s sentence was the end result stemming  from drugs and gun possession charges. Having a record of multiple past felonies, the 15-year sentence was the mandatory minimum term. His sentence was to scheduled to be followed up with two years of probation. The charges carried up to life. In addition, he  was charged with felony ill treatment of an animal, and was sentenced to five years – running concurrently with the federal drug and weapon conviction. Dodson made no apologies for what he did, and Judge R. Markley Dennis Jr. told him that he wished the sentence could be longer

Dodson is now eligible for parole on October 11, 2017. The Charleston Animal Society is asking everyone to send the message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated. Share the message.

  1. My comments, submitted on the parole objection board cited above:

I – along with innumerable others – implore you to make an example of this heinous cretin… thereby sending a message to all others who would emulate his actions, that COMPANION ANIMAL ABUSE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, but rather punished to the fullest extent of the law: Please DENY parole to this “career criminal”!

Thank you for your compassionate consideration for our beloved companions!”

  2. HE caused Caitlyn so much pain! That poor animal couldn’t not only bark but wasn’t able to eat or drink! She was in a disastrous condition!!
Her abuser should remain in prison that is the best place for him!!!

  3. Everyone who looks at this or has commented needs to click on the link in the last paragraph and state why this animal abuser should not be given parole….he should serve his entire sentence . Even the judge who sentenced him said he wished he could give him a longer sentence but the law won’t allow it. Please send in your comments about why he should not be paroled.

  4. Why does he need a break in so short term of punishment ? He is not a human so that bails paroles etc can be applicable to him

  5. Keep in in prison and throw away the key! this guy is horrible dangerous to animals, but he is also a psychopath. He could be going after his neighbor next. Please, don’t let him loose.

  6. Has this hunk of maggot puke not proved he is incapable of change? With his record he should be sitting in prison for the rest of his life – he is a criminal and to be eligible for parole so soon is nothing more than incentive to continue his criminal ways – 15 years SHOULD be 15 years, not 2 or 3. His vile treatment of an innocent defenseless dog is a prime example of what his mind set is – he will never change – KEEP HIM LOCKED UP – HE DESERVES NO LESS THAN THE FULL 15 YEARS. Caitlyn suffered horribly because of him – SHE deserves justice.

  7. This man did this to a poor defenseless animal. Do you really want him on the streets near your pets or worse yet YOUR children. this is a display of the subhumans mentality. Why would you even consider letting him out on parole. You have seen an example of what he is capable; do you really want to wait till it is too late.

I beg you to SET an example that this behavior will not be tolerated. As a tax paying citizen…. lock him up for the entire sentence.
