Rest in peace Brittany. We are sorry humans let you down.

Brittany is scheduled to be humanely euthanized on Friday at the Manhattan’s shelter of New York City Animal Services. It would be heartbreaking for her to lose her life today; Brittany is barely one-year-old. Here are parts of her story:

“She is a great walker, seems house trained, does not chase the pigeons and meets cordially other dogs. We are told that she does bark at other pooches in the street, and in the one playgroup she attended, Brittany was not too comfortable. But we had a little story in the park. Two nice off-leash dogs came to sniff us. Brittany sniffed them back and wagged her tail…go tell … She is described by her former owner as initially timid around strangers, a good dog across the board, but surrendered into our care as she did not get along with the young children in the house. My hunch is that she needs a peaceful lifestyle, maybe with a single owner or a couple devoted to her or a household with well-behaved older children,” posted the dog’s advocate on Facebook.

Please note that dogs scheduled to be euthanized are only announced 18 hours earlier.” My name is BRITTANY. My Animal ID # is A1104195. Manhattan Center, NY. I am a spayed female brown and white am pit bull terrier mix, approx 12 months old, Weight 58 lbs, rated Experience No Children (no children under 13)” Volunteers describe her as shy, but once she gets to know someone, she warms right up in search of love and affection.

“I met Brittany yesterday again. She knew me. She came right away to her door, took a treat and was ready to go out. Although free in a pen, Brittany chose to sit very close to me, her head in my lap for caresses. I think that she could have stayed that way for hours,” wrote another volunteer.

An additional Facebook page can be followed here with more information. This young gal’s time is nearing the close of life. Share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Brittany’s options depend on all of us. BRITTANY A1104195 is available to be reserved on the ACC website until noon of April 7th. http://www.nycacc.org/PublicAtRisk.htm

  1. This is why I Hate Kill Shelters. They have no Heart, No Compassion. Please Help save this little Dog. She don’t have to DIE.

  2. please share for her life. also why can the new adoption center Best friends open in NYC on April 4th? Why can’t the go there for adoption

  3. OMG, I went to the face book and the same shelter has 4+ dogs to be scheduled for euthanizing today. So sad. Most of them were surrendered. Brittany had a post back in August 2016 looking to be rescued. Hoping the best for Brittany and her furry friends!

  4. if there is nothing wrong with this pup,why the fuck would this shelter kill her, I hope karma bites these aholes hard in the ass

  5. Please save this baby…only one year old he might die..plus the other three you posted…..please don’t, they are still babies & deserve to live….I’m sharing. What would it take to keep them alive? Donations?

    • An adopter or rescue to foster can save Brittany…NYC ACC euthanasize dog’s every night. A list gets posted at 6pm for the dogs that are to be euthanasized, most of them get kennel cough from being in the shelter and this warrants them to be euthanasized! So sad & heartbreaking!!

  6. Heartbroken AGAIN! This poor dogs does not need to die,OMG!! WHY OH WHY??? She is an absolutely beautiful dog! Oh I hope she will be spared the death sentence placed on her! Praying for this baby!!!

  7. In one of the richest cities in the world, filled with millions of people – nobody stepped up for quiet unassuming Brittany. A tragic end to a life so full of promise. Final heartbreaking words from the volunteer that loved her … “Brittany just died. Nobody believed in her and truly I do not believe in anyone anymore. Aggressive dogs are pulled and Brittany left to die.. just like Jim Thorpe. The vet tech was very sad as she was so sweet. Glad at least one person believed me ????”

    • Oh no, we have to do a better job of getting these sweet dogs noticed before they are on death’s row. This is heartbreaking! How can these shelters do this, kill a beautiful dog like this?
