Update: Sarah has been rescued!

A dog, who was reportedly bullied by kids at an apartment complex, is so frightened that she shakes uncontrollably with fear inside of her kennel run at the Harris County Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. The dog, dubbed “Sarah,” longs for the touch of a kind human hand, but she is so fearful that she seems to feel that even kind people will hurt her.

A video of Sarah interacting with a kind woman was posted to the Harris County Animal Shelter Volunteers Facebook page on Monday…the footage is heartbreaking. The words accompanying the video are equally sad:

Poor Sarah has been through so much. She shakes uncontrollably in fear. Even a loving touch is terrifying. On Saturday I felt like all I could do was hold her and tell her I would do my very best. 😢 please help us save Sarah! She needs someone to adopt her, or she needs donations, a local foster, and a rescue group.

Sarah needs a patient, kind person to help her learn that life is not about pain and suffering. Please share Sarah’s information and help her find someone who will give love unconditionally. 1. Poor girl….I hope she finds the kind loving home she deserves. Shame on those little brats that bullied her. You need to do community service and taught to respect animals!!!!!!!

  2. PLEASE SOME KIND PERSON RESCUE SARAH FROM THIS SHELTER AND GIVE HER A SAFE LOVING HOME – She deserves a kind and soothing touch to help her get over the cruelty inflicted on her by those miserable punks. She will give unconditional love to whoever adopts her.

  3. Et les morveux, ils n’ont pas été sanctionnés, c’est intolérable autant de cruauté d’une âme si fragile et innocente. C’est injuste.

  4. Idiot kids probably have equally idiotic parents. Kids learn compassion – towards humans, animals, and anything else – from their parents. If the kids are this way, you can blame the parents. Also, these kids are on their way to be animal abusers, and even killers. They’ll eventually move up the food chain to humans. Poor dog. Sharing this story with prayers.

  5. Heartbreaking. I’d like to get a hold of the spawn of Satan who bullied her at the apartment complex, the little bastards need a dose of their own medicine.

  6. Poor baby, I hope someone helps this poor baby, her life must have been hell up until now and now she is in a scary shelter. Somebody please tell me why these brats were allowed to bully a defenseless dog, had she bitten one of them in fear she would be on death row right now! I have a suggestion, how about the parents of these brats try teaching their kids to be humane, but then the parents are probably no better than their evil spawn anyway!

  7. I know there is someone out there that can take her in; she deserves a chance at a happy and pain free life. Someone save sweet Sara! Show her the love she needs to get over her past trauma! Prayers going out to Sara in her quest to find a loving home!

  8. BOY OH BOY HARRIS County Texas APPEARS for ALL INTENTS and PURPOSES to BE ONE “FK”ED” up place to LIVE IN the “NO STAR STATE”” WE have our YOUNG EAGLE KILLER There , the Machatete Murder of a young dog… and numerous more extremely Horrific Crimes against Animal’s …… must be the County of Psychopaths!!! This poor little dog needs a chance…. as for the POS SO called Children in the Apartment Complex…. hope the county jails and youth facilities expand soon as these riff-raff will be coming thru the door (hopefully ) soon!!!

    • We have close to 5 million people in Harris County. Not all of them are saints. Don’t judge us all by the actions of a few. We have a wonderful volunteer base here that strives to make the world a better place for animals.

      • No but you have a horribly gross pet overpopulation and no control for a city that size. I mean Houston has feral dogs…really 🙁 Sorry I agree there are good people everywhere but the south at least for animals is a horrible place for the most part. I don’t know if it’s ignorance, poverty, culture from other places or a mix of all three. The places where the pet overpopulation is horrifying is California, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Georgia, and pretty much anywhere south of the mason dixon. Of course they places are heavily populated but they all pretty poor states. I live in Kansas and rescues up here go down to Texas to help bring animals up here and send them on to northern state and even Canada. I know some Missouri rescues go south to help too and Missouri has it’s share of pet problems having the most puppymills in the nation. We need strict laws. At least animal cruelty is finally a felony in every state now I believe!

  9. wish the lady in video could take Sarah home 🙁 these Needle Dicks have done some really bad things to her. Guarantee that they have done this to other animals and will continue if not stopped !
Obviously the owners of Sarah didn’t give a SHIT about her to let this go on!!
We cannot let Sarah down we must find Sarah love

    • I am the lady in the video. I already have three dogs in my one-bedroom apartment. (My limit is one.) Every additional dog I bring home takes time away from being able to actually go up to the shelter and shoot videos like this and network others. I can save more Iives by NOT taking Sarah home. She already has a rescue hold and will be out of the shelter as soon as her stray holding period is up. I wouldn’t let anything happen to the sweet girl 🙂

      • You’re an amazing person. Thank you for the love and compassion you’ve shown her. Will there be careful screening of the person that has a rescue hold on her? She needs to have s patient, kind place to heal.

    • The rescue group that has the tag on her will take amazing care of her! The foster also has extensive experience with dogs that have been abused. I can’t wait to see her blossom

  10. I tried to comment back to the shelter. I asked where this was..I’m in Maryland. Does he need to be an only dog?? I have 2 dogs..one older small dog and a 3 yr old pit and he’s spoiled and attached to my hip. I also have 3 kids. Can he be transported?? Does it cost?? Should he be alone??

  11. I Live In Wisconsin And I would Drive To Texas To Bring Sarah Home To Live Here With Me and MY Husband and Koda He Needs A Play Mate We Are Very Active Go ON Walks We live On A River no kids around would have fun we go camping all summer I would Love to Have Sarah As One Of My Own Please Let Me Have Her

  12. For those who say children are so sweet and innocent here is the proof that is the lie! This poor kid may or may not get over her fear completely! She will need to be kept in a peaceful environment with no children in the area! There is a place for her!

  13. This dog is actually a gem in the raw, I only wish I could take her and I would grab her. She just needs someone to repair her broken heart and restore her faith there are still good people. The fact that she doesn’t have a vicious bone in her body after being so abused speaks volumes about her nature. I am begging a rescue to take Sara and find her a loving home. I think adults would be best!! PLEASE!!!!!

    • That is exactly what I said whenever I saw her reaction to me! She is an incredible dog! I am also happy to report that she is safe and out of the building with K-911 rescue ❤️

  14. That poor baby reminds me of my Shadow when she first came to me. She does not greet new people like my other dog. But she keeps an eye on them. She had been starved and abused. To this day 5 years later she acts like she is afraid some is going to take her food away. At my house that does not happen. This quivering mess I got 6 years ago at a rescue has turned out to be a smart loving an entertaining young lady

    • I run the volunteer page that the video came from and shot the video. We accept donations and transfer 100% to the rescue that saves the dog. Donations can be made to PayPal.me/texasshelterv and say it is for Sarah! If she does not leave the rescue group, even if that means she is adopted, your donation is automatically refunded. 🙂

  15. Shelby, you rock ! I am in Wyoming and already have 3. Just had one transported from San Antonio. Great guy ! I am sure with your beautiful video she will be finding peace and love very soon !

    • Thank you Elisa! Without everyone who donated and shared her video, all I could do is give her love and cry. All of you are who make saving lives possible ❤️

  16. Sarah is SAFE! She just left the building with a foster from K-911 Rescue! Stay tuned on Harris County Animal Shelter Volunteers Facebook page for updates on her progress. Thank you to all who shared and donated!

    • There are freedom photos 🙂 search “Harris County animal shelter volunteers Sarah” on Facebook and in the comment section when her video pops up you’ll see her freedom photos ❤️
