Mandy is 16-years-old and is truly brokenhearted. The adorable Parson Rat terrier lies in her little bed at the Carson Animal Care Center staring at the wall; the senior seems to know she has been abandoned, and as she quietly shivers in fear, perhaps she wonders what she did wrong. Just watching Mandy’s short video, one can sense her confusion and the unmistakable depression already setting in.

Mandy was surrendered to the shelter on March 21. Her intake notes reflect the following comments:

“My former family who owned me for more than 5 years had to give me up because But they said that I spend most of my time indoors. I seem to be good with small children. I am house trained. I am good on a leash. I may need obedience class. I seem to get along well with dogs.”

Check here for Mandy’s Pet Harbor listing. “My name is Mandy and I am described as a spayed female, white Parson (Jack) Russell Terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 16 years old. I have been at the shelter since Mar 21, 2017.” For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. Ask for information about animal ID number A3444795. A Facebook page to follow this senior’s plight can be found by clicking here.

Share Mandy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, family, friends and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives, and every life counts. Senior dogs have more difficulty finding homes, but age truly doesn’t matter in return for having a best friend who promises never to reveal one’s most hidden secrets. Instead – Mandy is ready to be loved once again and could be just waiting for you. Please help.

  1. Poor girl!!!! What a crappy “family” and a crappy excuse!!! Who could do this to a family member, especially an elderly family member?! Shame on you!!

    • I agree you used nice wording i would have said something worse, i just had to put my dog down even tho she was 14 yrs and last october my other dog was 15 1/2 i would never ever put them in a shelter, they need you more than ever, poor mandy am hoping someone will adopt her so she can enjoy her twilight years, they are scumbags

  2. It’s become epidemic! People taking seniors to a shelter because they no longer want to be bothered! These are living breathing feeling beings! They know that they are in a bad place they can sense it they can smell it! For a lot of these seniors depression sets in they give up and actually will themselves to die! It’s a disgrace! If you can’t commit to the life of the animal you get then don’t get it! That simple! They aren’t garbage! They arent a toy!

  3. “Spends most of her time indoors”? WTF is wrong with these people? Dogs should spend most of their time indoors. POS owners!!!!

  4. People are so cruel! You see this day in and day out. What is wrong with people? Don’t they realize they will be old some day? What will happen to them?

    • J’espère qu’ils leurs arrivent la même chose, et là, je souhaite qu’ils se souviennent de se qu’ils ont fait à cette âme innocente. Qu’ils vivent l’enfer jusqu’à la fin de leur vie.

  5. Well boo hoo, she spends most of her time in doors. Wouldn’t most dogs like that scenario instead of being tied outside in all kinds of weather. 16 years old and this is how they treat her! I wish them nothing good in their lives, and are dumped in the worst nursing home imaginable when they are elderly and can’t take care of themselves! Prayers she finds her way into a wonderful, loving home for the remainder of her years.

  6. What a lame excuse! The owners dumped this poor girl in a shelter because she spends most of her time indoors? This is a new one for me. For god sake, this little girl is 16 years old, she deserves to be in warm loving home. Her owners are really the scum of the earth.

  7. Sad to watch how these pets end up in over crowded shelters, these humans simply dont care, if its old let us discarded it, what kind of sick society do we live in, these humans have lost their ways, no compassion for their pets,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Despicable…..

  8. I’m so heartbroken for Mandy and the little cutie in the bed with her who also appears to be a senior! I personally love seniors dogs,I have three seniors myself! ALL FOUR OF THESE LITTLE DOGS DESERVE BETTER! This is why my heart and soul aches all day everyday. SAD,SAD,SAD!

  9. How about someone replying to this who lives in So. California sign up and foster this senior pup? I live in No. California and foster senior dogs and it is truly wonderful!! She would be forever grateful! <3

  10. Mandy has been adopted! I sent her information to a few rescue places and was notified by one of them. I called the LA shelter to make sure!
