A 24-year-old woman was struck by a car and is lucky to be alive after running into traffic trying to save one of her rescue dogs that had darted out of the garage at her home. The San Angelo, Texas bride-to-be, Bianca Rodriguez had been at home, on a break from work, on July 19 when she saw the dog quickly run out into the road.

“I got to the ground and I was calling her name, and she was coming towards me, and I don’t remember what happened after that, Bianca told Fox News.

The woman was rushed to Shannon Hospital where she suffered a fractured nose, lost teeth and a broken ankle. The police report stated Bianca failed to yield the right of way as she ran onto the road. As to what happened, the mother of a one-year-old child admits to having acted on impulse and apologized to everyone worried about her. With the help of friends and colleagues, Bianca is hoping to have her dream wedding in three months as originally planned.

“As a lot of you know, my dogs got out Wednesday around 4pm in front of our house on College Hills. Our husky got ran over by a truck and I got hit by a Chevy Cruise. I shattered my ankle, fractured my nose, split open my lip, have severe burns on my body from laying on the asphalt waiting for the ambulance , and lost 2 of my front teeth. My dogs are perfectly fine, but I will be out of work for the next 2-3 months without pay. Conner and I are so grateful for our families helping us with Brynlee, and still plan on getting married October 28, 2017. We appreciate any and all help of various types. Thank you all so much!”

Bianca said the driver of the car stopped immediately to make sure she was alright. The crash report said the driver was cited for driving with an invalid license. Her dog has been treated for injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. The dog she had been fostering is doing fine.

  1. This poor woman did what most of us would have done, mindlessly go after our precious dog. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

  2. People who love their pets automatically and instinctively react to save their pets,I would of done the same thing! Thankfully Bianca and her fur baby are going to be ok! GOD BLESS BIANCA and her fur babies! PRAYING FOR BIANCA TO NAKE A SPEEDY RECOVERY!

  3. I hope Bianca and her dog fully recover and THANK HER for her instinctive reaction to save her dog – all of us who love their animals would do the same thing.

  4. Failure to yield is immaterial, as the person driving with an invalid license should NOT have been on the road and therefore bears ALL culpability!

  5. Hey everyone. I just noticed that this story was posted! I am the woman who was struck by the car! It was a life changing experience, but for the better! I now have two children and am applying to Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine. It’s funny how life can change in the blink of an eye and thank you for all the kind words. I acted upon instinct and am grateful for my life, as well as my dogs and my foster’s life. Thank you to anyone who donated or shared all those years ago.
