Beagle Freedom Law passed

After a great deal of work, another state (make this the sixth!) has passed the Beagle Freedom Law. The great news was announced to followers of the Beagle Freedom Project, the agency which negotiates with laboratories to secure the release of dogs (and other animals) who have been used for research.

According to the organization, Illinois is the latest state to pass the law – they wrote:

This law means that laboratories that use dogs and cats in experiments must now offer them up to public adoption.

Passage of the law, which will give laboratory animals the chance to enjoy a normal, happy life, didn’t happen without a fight. BFP wrote:

It took countless calls, emails, letters, and visits to Springfield to make this happen – but the Beagle Freedom community did not relent and would not give up. The opposition got ugly and we all were collectively challenged to “fight like hell” – and we did!

It’s a fight that was worth the effort – please share this amazing news with other animal lovers!!

  1. That’s wonderful news!!! But I hope they do thorough background checks on all potential adopters to help to ensure that the dogs do get happy homes. After the hell they’ve been through that’s the least that can be done.

  2. Well I’m over the moon with happiness to hear this! Especially after reading the post about those animal killers in Russia! I have been following The Beagle Freedom Project for awhile now and they are awesome!! I’m praying for the day when ALL animal testing is completely outlawed! How depraved it is that there had to be a fight over this in the first place? I mean why are these animal abusing scientist and the facilities they work for oppose this? Probably because the public might become aware of the trauma done to these innocents! They would rather kill the animals that are lucky enough to even survive the torture inflicted upon them! Most of the time the experiments taking place in these “labs” have no real value in the improvement of human lives,it’s just mindless, waste of time experiments at the exspense of the suffering of the animals! The horrors I have read about happening in these labs is heartstopping! I was OVERJOYED when our federal government cut off funding to the labs at our Vetern Affairs! I think The Natioal Institutes of Health were also cut off from receiving tax money for animal testing. I’m so happy the federal government saw this as a waste of our tax dollars! It’s such an outrage that our tax dollars were being used for animal testing, which is animal torture and animal abuse of the highest order. Dumb me wasn’t aware of our tax being used for this until 4 or 5 years ago! I downloaded an app that can be used to check if a product I’m buying is made by a company that tests on animals. I dont care how much I like a particular product,if they do animal testing I will not purchase that product or any other product that that company sells….NO WAY!!

  3. You guys are awesome! I also have been advocating for these laboratories, and as a matter of fact I emailed wayne university president to end the experiments. I know T&M is also doing these horrific experiments and I hope with this success, all universities will follow to do the same. What these universities have been doing were cruel and evil practice to the voiceless that can’t even defend themselves to refuse not to participate in this evil experiments. There are other options, and animals are not for experiments and not sure who’s in the right mind as a university president to allow torturing and killing animals in the first place. Bravo guys!

  4. Between this and the White Waste Coat Project which stops funding for these labs, we can assume that things are moving in the right direction!

  5. SLOWLY BUT SURELY ANIMALS WILL GET THE RIGHTS THEY DESERVE. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE WE HAVE TO FIGHT SO HARD FOR THE VOICELESS, ALTHOUGH ANIMAL AND CHILD ABUSERS SEEMS TO HAVE A HELL OF A LOT OF RIGHTS. MY OPINION THEY NEED TO BE TORTURED AND SUFFER, BUT THE WORLD BELIEVES BECAUSE THEY ARE HUMAN. SUBHUMANS THAT NEED TO DIE. YES FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS. SO SICK OF SEEING ANIMALS SUFFER. FINALLY THEY WILL GET THERE.

  6. I’ve been following and supporting the Beagle Freedom Project and applaud all they have accomplished for these poor dogs being used for “research”! Good work!
