Bonded siblings 14-years-old dumped at shelter brings tears to volunteers’ eyes

Shiba and Jesse have spent a lifetime together.  The bonded siblings have been raised together since they were just puppies, what could have happened 14 years later when their owner told them to jump into the car and arrived at the Carson Animal Care Center in California on Sunday? According to volunteers, Shiba and Jesse’s owners could no longer handle the responsibility of their two dogs. Tragically, just like an old couch, one short ride and a bit of paperwork, the lives of devoted companions no longer mattered.

Look into their eyes. The confusion and heartbreak are all that can be seen. Although they are in the same kennel today, that will likely change in a day or two. Carson Animal Care Center does not support keeping bonded pairs together with the thought that the dogs will have an easier time finding a home if they do not have to be kept together. And so, after having lost the only home they have ever had, on top of everything else, they will be separated and their spirits further broken apart.

  1. SIMPLY HEARTBREAKING !!! Carson of ALL PLACED in Southern TO TAKE THEM as it is more than likely a death sentence for sure for both of these lovely dogs who should have been getting love, treats, and devotion from their Putrid ( California GUPPIE) owner…

  2. To the piss poor owners of Shiba & Jesse: These dogs were with you for many years and because you DON’T want the responsibility you dump them in a high kill shelter – this shows what a low life hunk of shit you are – is it because they are older and may need some health care? I would not put that past this miserable person one bit – YOU are the one who should be sitting in a high kill shelter awaiting your turn to be euthanized, not these two innocent dogs.

  3. There should be sanctuaries where older dogs like this could go together. As older dogs, they are even more confused about this change in their lives, but at least in the same cage gives them the security and calmness they need. Unfortunately, according to this article, they will be separated into a cage each. A pity since they look like very calm dogs. Aren’t there any facilities that would help owners with the cost of caring for elder dogs? For some, finances could be a big factor in not being able to keep them. Pray they both get adopted to the same place.

  4. I watched the video and it broke my heart. I’m sure these two are scared out of their minds – the panting isn’t just because of heat; dogs pant when stressed. At the very least, they need to be kept together in the shelter (and I use the term “shelter” loosely).

  5. After 14 years, the owner dumped these two bonded senior dogs in the shelter. Shameful! The two dogs are in their twilight years and probably may not have that many years left. The likelihood these dogs be adopted at their age is slim. Hoping they will be saved by a rescue organization. As for the owner, I hope when you reached your golden years, your love ones will dump you in some 3 rate nursing home!

  6. Please, some organization for senior pets, please save these two. How anyone can do this after all the years of devotion these animals have given is beyond any reason. Will give $25 to any organization that will rescue. If I could give more, I would. Please people – donate! This will help.
