On June 10, sweet little Rocky arrived at the Downey Animal Care Center in California. The nearly 14-year-old female silky terrier had been surrendered; to date her family never changed their mind nor have they showed up to comfort her.. And so she waits, shivering in fright with no idea why she has been abandoned nor why she is alone. shelter adoption listing. “My name is Rockie and I’m an approximately 13 years, 9 month old female silky terrier.  I am already spayed.  I have been at the Downey Animal Care Center since June 10, 2017.  I am available on June 14, 2017.  You can visit me at my temporary home at D701.” Make sure to reference A3165359 when inquiring about adoption or fostering. A Facebook page for this dog can be followed here.

It is not known if Rocky’s former family abandoned her because she is old. Sadly she presents with several medical issues; some apparently from neglect, but dogs are never to be viewed as old couches and thrown away when they actually need their families the most. Her medical records indicate the following:

Cataracts -OU
Yellow Debris and crusting AD
Mass on right hip, right side of chest. Flaky skin, hair loss behind both ears, and rear legs.

A/P- large palpable mass on right hip. R/o lipoma VS malignancy.

Cataracts
Dental tartar
Ceruminous discharge AU- r/o otitis externa vs Media

On medications.

Rocky can be released to an approved organization or a compassionate advocate after agreeing and signing a medical waiver. Surgery is not recommended at this time until there is a consultation with a licensed veterinarian because of the dog’s age. Check out Rocky’s short video. She is so frightened; can anyone help? Please share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Whether Rocky only has days, weeks or years, how is it fair to abandon her at a shelter? Advocates have been pledging funds to help an approved rescue organization with the dog’s veterinarian expenses. Sharing saves lives. 1. There are several horrible shelters in So Cal and this is one of them. WTF is wrong with azzholz who abandon a senior dog????? I would do or give anything to gave my beloved Gizmo back with me. He was 18 years old when I held him for the last time….. Some organisms masquerading as human beings know nothing about being human. Therefore, they don’t qualify. Criminals, druggies and animal abusers are lower than whale shit.

  2. What a disgusting POS “so-called” family…..
Hope the rest of their useless lives are filled with pain and suffering…….
The monsters who failed you will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty…….
Hope this little treasure can find a new furever real family to love and pamper her for whatever time she has left……

  3. How in the world can people (and I use the term loosely in this case) be so cruel and cold??? How heartless to abandon a 13 year old family member. Karma to whoever did this!!!!

  4. Don’t People Know that Senior Dogs are the Best. I Hope that Karma will get you for doing this to a Lovable Senior Dog. Dogs are yours for Life. Don’t you know that you Idiots.

  5. Abandonment is another form of vicious cruel abuse! This little darling deserves so much better,as ALL homeless dogs do! In the shelter world being homeless is a crime and death is the punishment! ITS SHAMEFUL,ITS IMMORAL,AND ITS SO VERY WRONG!!! Praying for this precious treasure

  6. ANYONE who would abandon a senior dog needs a crack in the head with a 2×4 – this is so cruel – Rockie deserves MUCH better and I pray there is some kindhearted person there whose willing to take him and make his senior years one of love and compassion. He deserves a safe loving home which he obviously never had before.

  7. I have two elderly Yellow Labs – both with significant health issues. It’s sometimes exhausting to take care of them BUT there is no way I would ever abandon them – they are with me until their last breath. Rocky’s former “family” SUCKS.
