A seven-year-old poodle lies curled up in her kennel cage at the Baldwin  Park Animal Care Center in California. Missing an eye, terribly matted and pretending to be asleep, a shelter volunteer couldn’t help but be drawn to the tiny victim of heartless neglect. Picked up by Animal Control as a stray on June 2, she is expected to be available for adoption on June 6. Her online story begins when Karen Klink met her on Saturday:

“This lovely lady from Baldwin Park animal shelter building four, was just ‘pretending to sleep.’ One eye gone, matted fur, either obese or other issues… I quietly approached her and she came to me in a loving manner. Not knowing anything about her injuries, I carefully petted her and held her for a while. No fear or aggression, just love.”

A Facebook page can be followed here or here. Certain pictures break our  heart; what this seven-year-old dog must have been through while on the street fending for herself is hard to imagine. In her kennel cage however, she tries to act as if she were invisible, but at the slightest touch she quietly inches over for affection and reassurance that all will be fine. She’s a broken little dog who desperately needs to be rescued. Share this dog’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

  1. Won’t a rescue or someone please help this poor little girl?? She certainly has gone through enough hell. If I lived closer I’d adopt her. She deserves a loving home to live out her last years.

  2. This poor baby isn’t available for adoption or rescue till 6/6, two more days, but she really needs to get out now to get medical treatment. Reading this article about her is heartbreaking. She needs to get out as soon as she’s available. She needs an experienced foster home, pledges for her care and a rescue group to oversee her care. Please share to help get her out and on her way to her new life, being treated like the Princess she really is.

  3. This is heartbreaking. It’s a hard life for a dog living on the streets, it’s even harder for a tiny dog such as this one. I hope she gets a forever home with a family that will always love and care for her.

    • actally its the bigger dogs that are usally skin and bones. the little ones are able to live better on scraps from knocking over garbage pails. thy hide better and can find shelter they are cavers. its the big dogs that seem to be viewed as a danger also. Its sad we were in peru a month ago , strays every where but all of them up to a cetain size. Say between 7lbs to maybe 20lbs.they live in the city streets and stores and restaurants feed them. as americans it was jarring. they are everyehere. Also what is strange is that 90% of the dogs may seem homless because the owned dogs have to sleep out side at the front door as guard.it was weird.

  4. I don’t understand WHY these shelters just let these animals sit without any medical attention or grooming – how exactly to they expect them to be adopted when they are in such dire need of help. This poor dog needs to be taken care of, not left to suffer.

      • dramatic effect.
It stimulates a little known hormone that has been known to make even the oblivious. stop, notice, cry and reach out. Powerful stuff.nobody needs to save a winner.

  5. So so upsetting!!! Finances are keeping me from taking any more pets,I’d so love to have her!! Praying and praying hard that a foster can be found ASAP!! PLEASE SAVE THIS SWEETHEART!! SHE ONLY WANTS TO BE LOVED!!!!!!

    • YOU KNOW I am GUILTY of BASHING the Horrific treatment of animal’s in the “Guppy STATE of CALIFORNIA” and the shelter’s ( especially ) Baldwin, Carson, Downey and San Berniadino ! I need to apologize to many of the Shelter’s Staff. Like this one in particular I know they care, and what a terrible job they have ::: to endure having to WATCH and NOT INSULT >>>> LET alone NOT TO ASSULT the TOTAL ASSHOLES that LIVE IN THIS STATE for the atrocities THEY COMMIT and having no ” SOUL”S” I though ARNOLD was a LOSER governor BUT BROWN has NO TESTICALS “AT ALL” He has seen this escalation of animal unethical, brutal , neglectful, treatment,,, YET HIS HAS SAT QUIETLY ON his HEMORRHOIDS and NOT DONE ONE THING to MAKE IMPROVEMENTS in ANIMAL RESCUE AND CARE>>> He should make it EASIER FOR out of STATE RESCUES TO take and help place the PERS THAT THE STATE WOULD RARTHER KILL THAN LET THEM GO TO HOMES IN OTHER AREA”S !!!

      • Oh God, Penny. I so agree,
the money to pay to have the Death Tech Crew. come in Twice a month could be put to transpertation and the development of interstate placement.

        example.
linda lives on the east cost wants a dog on the west coast. shes ready, why not abolish kill shelters and reroute funds simply in air transport from business already flying between destinations who have empty cargo. save money effeciantly uses fuel and fills unused cargo.

what is fustrated to me is how many times has a dog been put down when east coasters want a dog and then told sorry local only.
shelters on east coast can check on west coast dogs for the shelter and vise versa..
With the the internet and mass communication. Why has this not happened yet. What is the point of a kill shelter!? Its just stupid.
were gonna get you your elvis jr linda.

      • ellen so true I can’t understand why most of the kill shelters in CA. won’t allow people who want to adopt from the other side of the coast. After all most transports are volunteers. It’s not as if these shelters are paying for it. Thank you for thinking of me regarding my beloved Elvis. I will keeping looking. As much as I have had and love big dogs we’re not allowed to have them in my condo. Have a good weekend.

      • you also!
were gonna find you an elvis or
        an elvis will find you.

  6. Leave No Paws Behind, Inc. are Rescuing her We have received a few applications and are still accepting applications for foster in the local Los Angeles, Ca and surrounding areas. E mail [email protected]

  7. The fact this little one was spayed means at one point she lived somewhere! Someone threw her away, i wonder what goes thru the minds of the rest of a family when this happens? Did they all agree to this kind of cruelty? I find it hard to fathom such rational! Humans just keep renforcing the lesson learned! They suck!

  8. she is better than a poodle, shes a pappillion poodle mix, those ears aint poodle. her coat will be like silk. her tail is way fancyer then a poodle. and shes the color of spun gold

  9. You will never have to worry about this dog. Move on to one who needs your shares.
People are fighting over her and will actually command a high price and its owner will pay anything.
This dog is a valuble mix and no maintnance this dog will not need the expensive grooming a poodle needs. she has a pappillion snoot with no curly hair on her beak and when its had a nice shampoo and relaxes enough to let its beautiful long haired silky tail ( not a short haired poodle tail) she will be magnificant and will never make it to an adoption site.
    she is already rescued.
