The question remains why anyone would want to torture four baby barn owls found last week at Remco, an electric auto repair shop in Alcoa, reports the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency representative Matt Cameron.

After TWRA was alerted, officers found the owls at a silo at the business located on N. Hall Road. Two of the babies were already dead and a third one had to be humanely euthanized because of the severity of its injuries. The fourth baby underwent surgery and has a positive prognosis. There have been no details of the harm inflicted upon the baby owls, however the injuries were alleged to have been intentional. An investigation continues.

In an update posted by Wate6News, Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have joined the investigation. The nonprofit organization, Upstate Birds of Prey, have offered a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this crime.

“Friends we have a sad situation right now. We were called for a baby owl tonight but what was found is bigger than imagined. If you know of someone disturbing a nest or messing with baby owls in the area of N. Hall Road and Associates Blvd., Alcoa TN PLEASE do not hesitate to call TWRA to report it. Birds of prey are federally protected. There is a REWARD for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
PLEASE share this post so that we saturate the area with this information in hopes of catching the individual or individuals involved.
We cannot give specifics so please do not ask,” posted the organization on their Facebook page.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1.800.831.1174. Be the voice for those who cannot speak. If someone is capable of torturing baby birds, it is indeed concerning what they might do to humans.

Rest in peace baby owls; how cruel of anyone to rob you of your lives.
