While Hurricane Harvey lashed portions of Texas, and non-stop rain pounded huge areas of the state, many people risked life and limb to ensure that their pets were safe. Amazingly, a Houston-area rescue group alleges that one family tried to beat their dog to death, despite the horrific natural disaster.

On Thursday, Adore Houston recounted the terrible situation which left a dog fighting for her life:

Princess’s owners were starving & abusing her. A neighbor reported them to animal cruelty investigators. Princess disappeared then. A couple of days later, the neighbor heard Princess screaming in unbearable pain, looked over the fence & saw Princess’s owners trying to bury her behind rubbish in their backyard. She was seizing & foaming at the mouth & one of her eyes was almost dislocated out of its socket.

The veterinarians at VERGI discovered that Princess had a fractured skull – when she arrived at the hospital, she was having uncontrollable seizures and was unable to regulate her temperature. Rescuers with Adore were warned to “prepare for the worst.”

With the backing of hopeful rescuers, the veterinarians went to work to stabilize Princess in an all-out attempt to save her life. According to the rescue group, the grievously wounded dog was stabilized enough to be moved to another hospital where she will get a CT Scan to further evaluate her devastating skull injury.

The rescue group expressed its outrage and dismay over Princess’ owner’s heinous act of cruelty:

As hard as it is to imagine someone abusing a dog under any conditions, abusing her during the midst of the worst natural disaster our city as ever seen is almost impossible to fathom. But the cold & harsh reality is evil exists, always. And Princess has been unsparingly subjected to this evilness.

  1. The owner really needs to be prosecuted for this, not just a slap on the wrist! I don’t care if the hurricane was creating devastation, this person needs to be locked up!

  2. Prayers for Princess and may the owners rot in Hell! It’s too bad something wasn’t done when these people were first reported, Princess should have been taken away from them much sooner than this!

    • Amen, completely agree! They should have seized that dog as thin as she is. She wouldn’t be going through this! Only good that could come from this, is if the owners are banned from owning animals EVER!!

    • Did cruelty investigators even come out? If they did come out and did nothing, they are complicit. Fire their asses! Charge the owners with felonies and make sure they do time.

  3. OH….MY…..GOD!!!!! I’m crying so hard over this and another piece of my heart is missing! If the authorities haven’t arrested and thrown the evil, vile monster in a jail cell over this the what the hell are they waiting for? Too bad they just can’t drown his ass in the poisonous water swirling in the streets! Once again I’m completely outraged and thoroughly sickened to the core! PRAYING FOR U BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS❤️ PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED!!! AND THANK U TO THE NEIGHBORS!!!

  4. Disgusting. Too bad the owners who beat Princess so badly didn’t drown in the flood. I’m sorry Princess that you had to endure so much pain and suffering. I pray for your fully recovery. May the bastards do jail time and share a cell with animal lovers. May you find empathy for Princess when you get the crap beaten out of you daily.

  5. I am sure those who read this are hoping an update includes information and we know we don’t have to worry if these people will own another dog because they aren’t here anymore. Victims of the “flood” Vigilantist justice

  6. This family (how many were involved in this), need to have done to them what they did to Princess and then all of them thrown in jail forever. Heinous act of cruelty and void of any heart. These people need to be put out of their misery and never to see the light of day. Evil

  7. Hope this dog survives and gets a good home. It’s hard to believe people can be so cruel. I hope the people who did this are charged and convicted and prevented from having access to any other animals and that they are punished.

  8. PLEASE punish these monsters!!! They should be locked up a minimum of 10 years, given a $10,000 fine and a life time ban on every owning or living in the same home as a pet. IT IS UP TO THE COURTS TO STOP THIS!! Stop slapping these abusers hands and letting them walk! MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF THEM!
