A 15-year-old dog named Zeke has found himself without a home just before Thanksgiving. The elderly mixed breed dog was taken to the Los Angeles Animal Services – East Valley Shelter on November 19.

A dog lover posted Zeke’s heartbreaking plight to Facebook, along with what she learned about the reason for his surrender:

“ZEKE (A0794711) was surrendered (aka ‘dumped’) at the East Valley Animal Shelter by the only family he has known, because they were “moving.” His body language showed such fear and his eyes such sadness, and my heart broke. Even looking at this photo of him makes me want to cry.”

For 15 years, Zeke lived with his family – now, in the twilight of his life, he is alone. Undoubtedly he is confused and most assuredly he is frightened and sad. Please help share Zeke’s plight – he didn’t ask to be homeless and he certainly deserves to be noticed and adopted.

  1. Wow!!! That is one cold “family”. How in the world could you bear to leave a family member behind, especially an elderly one who has been with you his whole life?? Shame on you!!! Karma!!!!

  2. Heartless people. Who else could leave their elderly dog to fend for itself. Automaticly we know sociopath. At best. Too bad this treatment of animals can’t become a part of their permanent record. Employers should know. And landlords.

  3. I would bet my next paycheck that the “moving” is nothing more than an excuse to dump an old dog. The POS owners will have the same address as they had before they decided that Zeke was too much trouble and they need to get rid of him.

  4. I wish there was a national registry and EVERY STINKING, LOUSY, excuse of an owner would get their name on that registry when they abandon/surrender their pet. THEY SHOULD NEVER EVER BE ALLOWED ANOTHER pet for any reason!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. ♥️ SHARED ♥️ HEARTBREAKING! I’m praying for you precious pup. May Jesus bless you with a loving forever home soon. Precious Pup, God bless you and Angels watch over you always. ♥️????♥️

  6. Yes, I agree with others that at Zeke’s age, he had too many issues that they didn’t want to deal with as we have all dealt with. Only difference is we don’t get rid of our elderly pets but take care of them till the end, like we do our own parents. Scum like this are only for themselves and what makes them feel good/happy at that moment and then move onto something else. So many elder dogs who have given of themselves only to be dumped. Shelters deal with people dumping their elder pets, should be arrested and charged for abandonment and have to continue paying for the care of that dog/cat.

  7. Is there any update on Zeke? I’ve shared him on 2 sites. I’m praying for this innocent baby and a savior to rescue him. Hang in there Zeke. Since your original humans stopped loving you, I’ve started loving you. God Bless you and be with you.
