A 12-week-old paralyzed Chihuahua puppy is having a very difficult time beginning her life. Brought into a vet hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday by her owner to be euthanized, the little one is also blind and deaf. It is suspected this may have been a neglect or abuse case. Veterinarians feel the puppy may have been dropped on her head causing extensive neurological damage. jasmin Gabay Kimball Chih 2

The puppy has just arrived at Dharma Rescue, an all breed cat and dog animal rescue located in Torrance, California. As of this time, the puppy’s prognosis is unknown, but she will be receiving further testing to assess what treatment will be the best. You can follow her story, which is just beginning today, on the organization’s Facebook page.

It is worthy to note that Dharma Rescue’s special program entitled DAWGS (Disable Animals Who Generously Serve) enrolls disabled and senior dogs and teaches them to be service dogs serving the community at schools, airports and senior senior centers. It will be interesting to follow this puppy’s future and watch how her life – no matter what her physical challenges – will do to make a positive difference in this world. Pet Rescue Report will be following this little pup’s progress, and we will let you know. To help with her veterinarian expenses, donations can be made by clicking here.

  1. So what was the owner’s story about how this dog got in this condition? Why wasn’t the authorities called if abuse was suspected? I applaud the organization for wanting to help this tiny pup but when are these monsters ever going to be charged with abuse? People can’t do this to their pets and expect someone else to foot the bill!

  2. Oh thank you Cheryl and Penny for doing the continued story of this little dog!!! I often wonder as to what the outcome was … and even a sad or unsuccessful ending is better than not knowing… I hope there may be some hope after evaluation to restore movement at least!!!

  3. This baby is in this shape because someone caused catastrophic injury to her brain! The question now being how extensive is the damage! And can it be reversed? The thing who caused this baby to suffer this injury will suffer as this little one suffers!

    • It’s nice to think the one who caused all this suffering will “suffer as this little one suffers”, but you have more faith in that than I do. They will go on with their lives and never look back or worse yet, get another one to abuse! I doubt these monsters will ever suffer any consequences or punishment.

  4. Very seldom do I say let a furbaby go. But if this sweet thing is blind, deaf, and possibly brain damaged…. give the baby some love for a couple of days and then let him to go Rainbow Bridge.

  5. If this was from an abusive act, I would like to take the monster(s) who did this and drop them – head first – off a very tall building. Praying for this sweet pup. While being deaf, or blind, or even paralyzed doesn’t mean this pup won’t have a life worth living, hopefully it won’t have all three problems. Thanks to the rescue for taking on this case.

  6. This tiny dog was obviously mistreated severely and the owner walked away – another scumbag owner who should be dumped headfirst into a wood chipper. I hate and despise animal abusers and feel they should get the same treatment they gave to a defenseless innocent animal.

  7. I did some research on this precious little treasure. She was renamed Rainbow and looked adorable in her post rescue snapshots. Sadly she died of a massive infection that her tiny body couldn’t fight (within a few days of her rescue).

Whilst I am VERY sad she didn’t survive, I am VERY grateful for the rescue that saved her. In her last few days of life, Rainbow was loved…….

Rainbow, I absolutely know that you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.
