In Troy, New York, a judge at Rensselaer County Court sentenced a woman to state prison on Friday for arson and animal cruelty after she set her sister’s home on fire where a dog and three cats perished in the flames, reports the Times Union.

Tammy Green, 45, pleaded guilty to torching her sister’s home in February where two firemen suffered injuries. Her sister’s dog and the cats died in the fire.

In a plea deal, Green pleaded guilty to one count of 3rd degree arson and one count of animal cruelty. She was sentenced to two and a third to seven years in prison.

“The defendant caused tremendous damage and endangered others. Her callous and wanton actions took the lives of four innocent animals and injured two first responders. Thankfully, no one else was killed,” stated District Attorney Joel Abelove in a news release.

Green had been living with her sister when she started the fire on February 18. The home was completely destroyed.
