Judges in a  state Superior Court panel rejected an appeal by Gisele Paris after she was convicted of dog-napping and euthanizing a neighbor’s dog. The Pittsburgh woman, Gisele Paris, 58, must serve a three to six month jail sentence for those crimes stated the judges’ decision on Monday afternoon.gisele-paris-the-dog-2

According to PennLive, Paris stole an eight-year-old Siberian Husky named Thor from her neighbor Mark Boehler’s on Thanksgiving 2013 stating the dog had been neglected. A humane officer had previously been to the home to check on the dog and did not take him away from  Boehler, 55, who had been diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer. Thor did have health problems, but was not suffering as Paris claimed.

In December 2014, Paris was convicted of theft, receiving stolen property and cruelty to animals. Originally Paris denied stealing the dog and told authorities she found Thor in a vacant lot looking for food. Paris had taken Thor to the Animal Rescue League, but when the staff told her that the dog had a tumor and he was not adoptable, Paris took the dog home. When she took the dog to the vet, she was told Thor’s surgery was to cost $600; an amount Paris stated she didn’t have and ordered the dog to be euthanized.

“Cause it was my dog. It wasn’t her dog. She took it into her hands to bury Thor on her property with her family pets. It was my family pet,” stated Boehler in his victim impact statement to the court after Paris was found guilty. “I had him for eight years. She had him for two months. He didn’t last two months with her, but he lasted over eight years with me, so who treated him right?

Rest in peace Thor.

  1. But why wasn’t Mr Boehler addressing the dogs health issue? Was he or was he just leaving the dog to suffer without medical attention? I have a lot of unanswered questions about this. Not enough details.

  2. A mere three months is NOTHING CLOSE TO ADEQUATE punishment for this BIYACH!
Rest-in-peace, precious Thor: I wish your life-long guardian could have been at your side, as you crossed the Bridge…
I know he will one day reunite with you, and the criminal who stole love and comfort from your life will NEVER be allowed to cross over!

  3. I am from Pittsburgh and followed this woman case on the news. She is a real weirdo, in this picture that is being shown here she is NOT giving the peace sign she was giving a sign with her hand held the other way which I was told in Europe is a derogation hand sign meaning “F-YOU”. She has done some other strange things involving taking other peoples animals from what I can ascertain from the news and the trial. She probability won’t even serve the whole six months and get out of jail on good behavior. Not much of a punishment for what she did to Mark Boehler and Thor. R.I.P. Thor.

    • That is how you give a peace. Don’t know any other way but that way, however, she probably thinks she’s doing a good service to these animals. What a nut job.

  4. She probably thought she had the best intentions for Thor, however, she could have offered to help the owner instead of kidnapping the dog.
