A woman is devastated after the pregnant stray dog that she picked up and took to an animal “welfare” facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was killed. According to KTUL News, Carol Towry was trying to be a good Samaritan when she picked up the pregnant dog, dubbed “Brownie,” and took her to the City of Tulsa Animal Welfare (TAW) agency.
Towry did not want the dog to deliver puppies on the streets, so she took her where she hoped the dog, and her unborn puppies, would be safe. Towry visited Brownie at the shelter, and she utilized social media to garner attention for the impounded dog.
The social media networking appeared to be working – several rescue agencies stated that they were interested in taking the dog and her puppies in, but they never got the chance. Brownie and her unborn puppies were killed as soon as the mandatory three-day stray hold expired.
Jean Letcher, the TAW manager, claims that no rescue agencies expressed interest in saving Brownie and advised that the pregnant dog was “euthanized” because the facility was too full. Letcher provided her reasoning for having Brownie destroyed, “We already have one mom with 10-day-old puppies and another mom with 10- to 15-day-old puppies in the shelter, and we did not need any more puppies.”
Towry is devastated and feels betrayed – in fact, she has stated that she wishes that she had just left Brownie to fend for herself on the streets. Towry stated, “We failed her, the system failed her.”
Brownie’s sad, untimely death is an important reminder of the importance of altering pets. Rest in peace Brownie.

Holy Cow!!! look into the gentle eyes of this young mom to be and say this needed to happen!!! Tulsa Oklahoma hasn’t PROGRESSED since the “GRAPES OF WRATH” by STEINBECK depicted it!!!! I am sure if this So called “manager” JEAN LETCHER (fitting last name) is absolutely RUTHLESS!!!! She could have given this poor dog a Chance… DENVER, COLORADO is awesome about taking rescues into their state as well as other states… given a chance I am sure a placement could have been found!!! WHAT A SHAME!!!
Damn that bitch!!! She is running a SHELTER, not KILLING FACTORY!!! Do they even attempt to foster pets there, or do they simply kill, kill, kill? I hope that POS is getting ready for the heat waiting for her in the afterlife, because it’s going to be a very, very long time in that oven.
That shelter bitch should of been aborted she is a waste of space, maybe she should be just PTS she wont be missed.

Heartless people! Certainly they could have waited a few more days in hopes someone would step up for Brownie and her unborn pups. Carol Towry should feel betrayed, she was doing all she could to find a home for this stray dog and the shelter should have worked with her on this! They should be ashamed!!!!!!!
Most shelters across the USA do this. They wait what ever their rules are. 3 days. 5 days. Some dont stay a day. They die the next day. Depends on many factors. Age. Color. Health. Temperment. Size. Breed. Pregnant. Can they touch the animal. If the animal attacks them. How full the pound is. I could go on but u get the picture. Go volunteer at a shelter. It will make u want everything. SPAYED AND NEUTERED. Cause its the only way we are going to cut down on all the. Shelter workers playing god and deciding who dies. U think they like it. Hell no. Spay your pets. Dog and cats. Find a group that does it at reduced rates. They have one where I live. Go VOLUNTEER
HORRIBLE animal control people. How can they call themselves a shelter or welfare location. The TERRIBLE manager should have waited and tried harder to SAVE this beautiful dog named Brownie. The animal control is HEARTLESS. Shame on them. They are murderers to kill a mom and her unborn babies without any regard. KARMA will catch up with those horrible people at the animal control.
