In Columbus County, North Carolina, an abandoned dog dubbed Frankie wandered the streets in search of food. No one knew where he came from; the young mange-covered pup just showed up one day near an auto repair shop.
And on Friday, the unthinkable happened. According to Animal Control, Frankie had been attacked by a bear. His body and skin have been ripped apart; gashes, scrapes and cuts cover his face ears, muzzle and paws. Unfortunately, local shelters do not have the funds for complicated medical procedures. Finding help for the sweet, defenseless dog was the shelter’s priority. When they called Rescue Dogs Rock NYC asking for help, co-founder Stacey Silverstein couldn’t say no.
“Frankie is in very rough shape now and we are doing everything medically possible to save his life,” Stacey wrote on the organization’s Facebook page.
Frankie’s prognosis is still unknown, but he will never suffer the dangers of the street again nor be treated as yesterday’s trash. To help with his medical expenses, click here or through Paypal at [email protected].
