On Friday morning, Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs, posted an update on the skeletal dog who has been given the sad title of “worst starvation case ever.” The rescue agency advised Facebook followers that the dog, dubbed “Thumbelina,” made it through the night.
More encouraging news was received after Thumbelina’s blood work was complete – the rescue agency wrote, “Her temperature has regulated to just about normal, and her bloodwork came back unremarkable, showing no signs of serious underlying health conditions, besides the obvious of being nearly starved to death.”
Additional information about the cruel case was also released – the emaciated dog was discovered by a young girl who found her in a rural area while hiking near a lake on Thursday. Thumbelina continues her fight for survival at the Fayetteville Animal Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Donations to help Thumbelina recover from her horrible neglect can be mailed to: PO Box 570701
Whitestone NY 11357 or at this link to the rescue group’s website.
The rescue organization has indicated that the authorities have been alerted to this situation and that an investigation is underway.
