On the same day that surveillance video showing a bold dog-napping situation in Washington, DC, the case was resolved. According to NBC Washington, the police released the video showing the puppy being stolen from a fenced yard on Thursday and shortly thereafter, the puppy was found and returned to his owner.

Cruz, a four-month-old retriever, had been snatched out of his owner’s yard in mid-October. Surveillance video, which was released weeks after the actual dog-napping, showed two people walking outside of the yard which is surrounded by chain-link fencing. One person can be seen grabbing the puppy by the collar and then walking away with the puppy in tow.

The puppy’s owner, who opted to remain anonymous, told NBC Washington that the puppy was returned by the authorities on Thursday night – details about how the puppy was found remain a mystery.

  1. I saw this on our local news after I read the article, although I didn’t see that Cruz was returned. This is great news! I hope they lock the scumbags up who stole him for a very long time.

  2. Why is it that these scumbags don’t get outed? They need to have their names a pictures posted so people are aware who is doing such thing. I so glad Cruz is back home but as rieann says above, the days of being able to leave our pets unattended even in their own fenced in yard are over, there are too many monsters out there just waiting to take what is not their’s our precious pups!
