There is tragic news to report about a puppy who was found in Oroville, California, in early November with severe injuries. The puppy, dubbed “Harvey,” was found by a good Samaritan at the top of the hill off Table Mountain Blvd, north of the Fish Hatchery; she had been burned and was suffering from blunt force trauma.

On Wednesday, the Northwest SPCA , which had taken Harvey under its wing, let Facebook followers know that the puppy had died. The shelter wrote, “We are immensely sad in announcing that sweet Harvey passed this morning due to complications from her injuries. The veterinary staff worked tirelessly to care for her and she fought for three weeks, but she could no longer hang on.”

The individual who inflicted the ultimately life-ending injuries to Harvey is still being sought. The shelter wrote, “We do not want Harvey to be forgotten and we don’t want her suffering and death to be in vain. We are still looking for the abuser and need your help. We see many animals that are suffering and abused and they have no voice. We have clues in this case and continue to seek information.”

According to the initial release of information about this cruel case, the person being sought is a male, in his late teens to early 20s, very slender build, about 6 feet tall with a dark complexion and dark, medium length wavy hair.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Northwest SPCA Crime hotline at 530-353-1099 if you have any information.

  1. I hope someone is looking for the monster that did this to this puppy ! This little guy deserves justice for all the suffering and torture he went through and for never ever be able to grow up and find a home and see what real love looks like!

  2. May he forever rot in hell once caught, he’s nothing but a SCUMBAG, LOSER, BAG OF TRASH!! May Harvey forever R.I.P.!!

  3. I wish I had some hope that the POS that did this to Harvey would be found, and even if they are what will they receive, a slap on the wrist? There seems to be more and more of these horrible things happening to innocent dogs. What kind of monsters can hurt a puppy? Certainly not someone that should be allowed to exist among decent humans!

  4. People who start out torturing and abusing animals usually tend to move up to worse crimes against humans. These criminals against animals should be brought to justice just as if they had done it to a person, because sooner or later, that’s what is going to happen. If we start punishing them when they are doing it to animals, there can only be less crimes in the future regardless of whom or what it is against! Our Justice system needs to step up to the plate and start searching these scumbags out, as if it were a case of abuse or murder to a human! Put a special task force of detectives on the job, use whatever labs and crime scene data they can get to catch these rotten people and put them behind bars for a long time!

  5. I’m absolutely sick with grief. I suspect that the person who did this is tremendously mentally ill; whether from being personally abused over a long period of time or perhaps born without the compassion or empathy that exists within normal development. It’s beyond tragic for everyone involved, the rescuers, those who worked valiantly to save her life, the sorrow of all of us witnessing this horrific end of hopeful recovery. Many of us are fighting hard to make such crimes at least a felony in every state, and we won’t stop until we have this punishment enacted. God bless all you do for the voiceless, no vote, no power. We must speak up and take action, that’s where our power is.
