A tiny pup is on the mend after being found with severe injuries in a mud pit on property in Ohio. The pup, dubbed “Lilleth,” was discovered thanks to an anonymous call made to humane agents with the Humane Society of Richmond County.

According to the shelter, the pup was found on September 17, without access to food or water and she was suffering from a gunshot wound and three broken ribs…believed to be the result of being kicked. The shelter stated, “She was unable to move her hind legs. She was taken directly to Dr. Jordan Phillips that night where he thought it was best to try to find a foster instead of her going to the shelter.”

Lilleth has proven herself to be a valiant fighter, but the gunshot wound has left her unable to use her rear legs. WMFD News reported that Lilleth has to pull her immobile back legs behind her, or use a specially built wheelchair to get around.

Her care providers are utilizing massage therapy to help the injured pup gain mobility, and her foster mom, Tara Harter, has stated that the results thus far are “miraculous.”

Eventually, this darling pup will be able to join a forever home – it is unknown at this time if Lilleth will ever completely recover from her prior abuse, or if she will require a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Find her rescuers on Facebook at this link.

Donations to help Lilleth recover from her injuries can be made to the shelter at this link.

Note – the shelter has indicated that it is unknown who shot Lilleth. Lilleth’s littermates were also taken from the property and they are said to be “doing well.”
