In Detroit, a long line of police officers and their K-9 companions lined up along Ford Field on Wednesday to say a sad goodbye to Wayne State Police Officer Collin Rose. According to ClickonDetroit, the slain officer’s K-9 struggled as he stood at the front of the line to say goodbye to his beloved companion.collin-rose-2

It was a somber but beautiful gathering as the officers and their four-legged partners stood silent as bagpipes played to honor the officer gunned down just two days before Thanksgiving. The ceremony took place in the very field where Officer Rose and K-9 Officer Wolverine were part of the security team during games. This time, however it was different for Wolverine. As Wolverine was led to his human’s casket, the K-9 struggled as he said goodbye and tried to pull away.

“He didn’t even want to walk up to the casket, so I tried to goad him up there and once I got him, he wouldn’t face it so I just held him,” stated Andy Grimm.

Rose was shot as he tried to arrest DeAngelo Davis, who has been arraigned on murder and gun charges.

Rest in peace Officer Rose. You left us much too early in life.
