A skeletal dog was found discarded in a trash bag in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park on Tuesday. Details of the heartbreaking find were recounted by the Pennsylvania SPCA Facebook page.

The post begins:

It happened today. Barbara Adams headed out to enjoy the fall morning with with her pup, Samson. Little did she know that her regular hike in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park would end up saving a life. Right there, underneath the McCallum Street Bridge, Samson, zeroed in on something that would change a life.

Adams described how her dog alerted her to the skeletal dog inside of the bag:

“I turned around and my dog was sniffing at this black plastic bag and when I looked closer there was a dog’s head sticking out of it. She was looking at me with very, very sad eyes. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! What do I do?”

The emaciated dog was picked up by the good Samaritan and taken to the shelter for care. Today, the dog, dubbed “Cranberry” is receiving round-the-clock veterinary care. “In these cases, it’s the first 48 hours, first few days that are the most important to ensure that the animal survives,” said Nicole Wilson, Director of PSPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement. “Our goal is to make sure that not only does the animal survive but that we find who’s responsible for this horrific act of cruelty.”

Why do people DO this $hit to pit bulls? Do they think, because they’re known as “fighting dogs” that they’re invincible? Or do they buy them, hoping to make money, and then starve them and throw them away? This poor baby-girl just wants LOVE. PLEASE keep us updated on Cranberry’s recovery! ? Prayers for you, sweet Cranberry!

This precious dog discarded like yesterday’s trash; how inhumane! I Pray Cranberry makes it and that the miscreant that threw her away is found and punished.
