What has happened to Nena should not happen to any dog. The neglected beagle – just seven-years-old, now only has Friday as her deadline or she will be euthanized at the Miami-Dade Animal Services if she is not rescued. Surrendered on October 20th; full of ticks, emaciated and heart worm positive, her owner dumped her because she “didn’t want to eat.”nena-the-beagle

Veterinarians at the shelter administered a life-saving transfusion for severe anemia on Thursday afternoon to save her life. Now a rescue organization is needed to follow through and save this sweet but unfortunate victim of neglect. Her Facebook page can be followed here. When brought in to the shelter, Nena’s shocking condition broke the heart of a nearby volunteer. Click here for Nena’s Pet Harbor listing. A1216381.

“She was this man’s dog covered with ticks – can’t even walk very sick. I made a point of telling him this didn’t happen overnight and to make sure this man gets at least a citation…,” stated volunteer Christina Dickson on her Facebook page.

Please share this neglected beagle’s plight with approved rescue organizations. Funds are currently being pledged to help with Nena’s medical costs. For additional information, contact Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center located at
