In Littlerock, California, dogs frequently roam the neighborhood unchecked. A few of the dogs have been labeled aggressive, but most have “owners,” yet no one pays much attention to any of them. Animal Control ignores the situation, and the dogs scavenge for food from trash cans or from kind neighbors who feel sorry for them.
When good Samaritan Diana Dultz-Wadsworth spotted the white shepherd months ago, the dog had been hiding at a friend’s house. There had been tentative plans to help the beautiful, friendly, but frightened dog dubbed Jasper, finding a foster home and additional funds proved to be difficult – that is until Thursday when Jasper painfully crawled underneath a bush in a neighbor’s yard; he had been hit by a car and no one was there to help. No water, no food or shade in the 90 degree temperature to protect him; Jasper’s owner never blinked an eye to offer any help. Soon it became an issue of life or death; aggressive dogs from the neighborhood began to bite and attack the injured four-year-old shepherd.
And as teamwork saves lives, Jasper garnered a village to help him. Faith Easdale, along with a host of volunteers were able to capture the dog. Border Buddies Rescue, founder Kimberley Ann Huntley stepped up to save him and Orange Hill Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Rana has been treating him. Fortunately for Jasper, his injuries are not life threatening:
“He told me our Jasper will be fine. He does have a deep laceration on his leg and will require daily cleaning and wrapping; other than that this 3-4 Lab/White GS will be fine,” stated Kimberly to Facebook friends and followers.
Orange Hill Veterinary Hospital is now caring for Jasper. Donations to help Jasper can be called into the office at 714.639.6100 or pay directly @orangecountyvet. Speak with Karlee. Donations can also be sent to [email protected].
No charges against his POS owners?? Incredible.
I agree, if they know who the owner is, then they need to be held responsible. Prayers for this beautiful boy, the whole situation in that neighborhood sounds disgusting!
I am told they dont know he is even missing. heartbreaking.
OWNER”S like this are the ONE”S that NEED to be EUTHANIZED!!!!
I agree with penny put the owner down he is a dirt bag
It sounds as if the animal control is as worthless as the dogs owner. They need to put someone in charge with a HEART.
Hi I am the rescue that backed this beauty. I am disgusted by the owners and I want to find Jasper a home he really deserves. TY for your support for Jasper. Kimberley
