In Wildomar, California, a five-year-old white shepherd dubbed Hope was left in a drop box at Animal Friends of the Valleys. She had been emaciated, covered in fleas  and  her tormentor had drawn an upside down cross with a  blue Sharpie upon her forehead. Why? Hope the dog with a cross

Fortunately Hope has since gained weight, been bathed and the inked cross  has nearly been all removed. According to the shelter, Hope has been described as sweet, calm and gets along with other dogs.

“The only issue we have had with Hope is that sometimes when someone is leaving her kennel, she will grab their shoe or pants with her mouth and not let go for several seconds. We believe this is possibly separation anxiety, and she does not want the person to leave her kennel. She does not always do this, and she does not seem to do it when in a larger area and someone leaves that larger area, but it has happened on multiple occasions when someone is leaving her kennel. Please let me know if your rescue is interested in sweet Hope,” wrote the shelter’s rescue coordinator, Monica Alexander.

A Facebook page to share Hope’s story can  be followed here. Please share Hope’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

  1. Well here we GO again !! At the very least the Perverted Puke that dumped this little girl didn’t cut her tongue out, , poke her eyes out. of skin her…. Bless her little heart that she didn’t have to endure something like that. The fleas, and weight loss can be fixed and maybe her heart can be healed IF only someone will take a chance on her out of all Places !! California ( right next to Texas in the dumping) of pets!!!

  2. who ever did that needs to be found rigth away.they migth do harm to more animals .glad to see the dog is better now.

  3. She is rescued by Coastal German Shepherd rescue. Thank God. How terrible. I pray for the day when these things stop happening. I’ll never understand how you can abuse another living being.
