Senior abandoned at high kill shelter with his toys

Update: Adopted!

An eight-year-old Rottweiler stares through the bars of his kennel waiting for his family to return. Sadly, they have no intentions of coming back for Brock. The handsome senior was abandoned at Miami-Dade Animal Services on Tuesday; no reason was provided. Try to explain all of this to a very depressed senior abandoned at a high kill shelter; now all he has left of his past life are his toys left behind with him.brockie-cover

Click here for Brock’s Pet Harbor adoption listing. A1828423 “I am an unaltered male, black and brown Rottweiler. The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old. I have been at the shelter since Nov 08, 2016.” For more information about this animal, call Miami-Dade Animal Services at (305) 884-1101. A Facebook page for Brock can be found here. What a sad testament to an entire life of loyalty for Brock. He just doesn’t understand.

It’s not much consolation but at least he has SOMETHING that smells like “home” – when I adopted my senior Yellow Lab, he had been found as a stray with a microchip. His owner didn’t come and get him. My other dog and I drove over 500 miles round trip to adopt him. All Bogie had was his collar and a small bag of new toys made possible by people donating to the shelter. I hope someone will give Brock a wonderful home for the rest of his life.

I SURE HOPE someone WILL take a LOOK AT BROCK and give him a chance !!! UNLIKELY I KNOW BUT JUST LOOK AT HIM “He Is Pure IN Heart & Soul” and DESERVES to LIVE OUT a NATURAL LIFE !!!

Please, call the nearest Rottie rescue–they are great about saving their breed–someone has to do it quickly. Also, there is a great rescue group that takes from there call 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Florida Everglades–they help whenever they possibly can so someone who is in that area, call immediately!!

I find it horrifying that someone would abandon their Rottie when they are so loyal and protective of their owners. I just lost my boy to cancer at the age of 8 and to think someone else left theirs to be put to death in a shelter makes me feel sick. I would have done anything to have my boy even another day and someone else just threw their dog away like that. Disgusting.

If no one steps up for this baby i would be more than happy to have him join my family. As long as he gets along with big and small dogs and wouldnt be aggressive he would be welcome to this home. No need in someone dumping them like trash. Sounds to me he is the lucky one if this is how he was treated in that family

There are so many great people who care so much. I’ve been so worried about this boy. Thank you so much for caring and sharing and for offering up your homes for this beautiful boy. You are all stars!

I begged, I pleaded and I could not see anyone stepping up to help this precious Rottweiler. I decided to ask a friend in Miami about a Rottweiler Rescue. She gave me the name of this wonderful rescue and I decided it was time to contact them. I emailed them and they immediately got back to me with the news that someone was adopting him but if he failed to show up, they had put a hold on him. These kind of Rescues needs money to save and care for these babies. Sharing is wonderful but pledging will really help them in times like this. My Rottweiler died 7/3/2015 of a massive heart attack at the age of 12. I have Muscular Dystrophy and now my husband has terminal lung cancer or I would have gotten him. Thanks to all for being there for this precious baby whose owners just dumped him in a killing shelter where BSL is in enforced.???❤️

He had someone who was adopting him and if this adoption fell through then the Gulfstream Guardian Angel Rottweilers Rescue had put a hold on him. There was nothing anyone could do unless the adoption fell through. Was your friend the one that wanted to adopt him. I do not know about Miami-Dade Animal shelter but look on their page and see if you can do anything over the phone. I am just telling you what the Rescue told me . This information was told to them from the shelter yesterday. They just do not want him killed!

I would take him in a heart beat. We just lost our Cozman to old age a few months back. he was 12 1/2, and broke our hearts when he left us. Rotty’s hold a special place in your heart. My biggest problem is the fact we live in Ohio, so someone would have to transport. I hope he is safe! Cruel people indeed!
