Photos and video of a badly neglected dog dubbed “John Snow,” resulted in numerous inquiries, heavy networking, and ultimately, rescue. The pit bull mix had been held at the busy, open-intake Chicago Animal Care and Control facility in Illinois.

A quick glance at John Snow’s video reveals why so many people were enamored by him…aside from his darling face, inquisitive eyes and wiggling bottom, was John’s sweet demeanor, obvious prior training and apparent forgiveness to humans, despite a body screaming of long-term neglect.

On Tuesday, shortly after John Snow arrived to the busy animal control agency, the rescue agency, Peace for Pits, Inc., committed to take him in. Find this neglected dog’s rescuers on Facebook here.

Rescue groups like Peace for Pits are able to help neglected dogs like John Snow when people volunteer to foster. Please consider opening your home to a dog in need.
