A retired guard dog was repeatedly stabbed by a home intruder in Taylorsville, Utah. According to Sunday’s Fox 13 Now, the senior German shepherd, named “Wagner,” managed to scare the intruder away, but not before being seriously injured.
The frightening incident took place at Randy Price’s home on Friday night – someone broke into the garage and Wagner’s barking alerted Price to the intruder’s presence. By the time that Price reached the garage, the attacker had fled, leaving the senior dog in a pool of blood.
Wagner was rushed to BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital – when he arrived, he was in shock. According to the veterinary staff, though Wagner’s injuries are severe, he is expected to make a full recovery.
Price told Fox 13 that in Wagner’s younger years, he worked as a trained guard dog – the pair did security work together. Though the official security work has ended, the senior dog still faithfully protects his home – a true friend, through thick and thin.
