In Winnemucca, Nevada, a one-year-old favorite rescue dog named Winston, on his way to his new home in Oregon from Denver, is lost after a serious car accident, reports Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue.Winston the lost dog

A crash on Route 140, northwest of Winnemuca occurred near mile market 28 on August 7 – halfway between Denio, Nevada, close to the Oregon border and Highways 140 and 95. According to KoloNews, the car flipped over several times and the driver was able to crawl out. The woman is currently in the hospital in intensive care. Winston had been strapped in with his  doggy seat belt, but was nowhere to be found.

Just hours ago on Tuesday morning, the rescue group reported sightings  of the dog, stating the following as an update on their Facebook page:

“POTENTIAL SIGHTING – NEAR QUINN RIVER RANCH BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 28 AND 29 – HE TOOK OFF WHEN SHE STOPPED CAR – HEADED TOWARD HOT SPRING 10:45 EST – 7:45AM Nevada time. Winston update: paw prints were spotted, no blood (a good sign). A reward is being offered and people who know Winston have been sharing information about him to help attract and get him home. Keep thinking positive, so many people are working diligently to bring him home safely!”

The search continues. Winston is described as extremely friendly, weighs 51 pounds and is deaf in both ears. During his last sighting, Winston took off when the car stopped.  If you have information about his whereabouts, please call Heidi at (724) 689-7436. There is a $650 reward offered if he is found.Winston the lost dog 2

  1. OMG, that face reminds me of my deaf hound girl, Ran (I lost her in April of last year after she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and the treatments from the vet just weren’t doing enough). I’m in love with this one. Praying they’re found. If they didn’t already have a forever home to go to, I’d SO want to adopt. I want another deaf dog – preferably a Coonhound, but love all breeds.

  2. Winston has been found, is safe and will be cared for until his owners can come for him as of August 9, 2016. It is on this page the update

What a morning this has been. The power of prayer. Since an auto accident that happened Sunday, the whole county has been searching for this lovely, deaf dog who ran off after being in an auto accident with his owner. His owner taken to Reno and in ICU, but conscious enough to post a plea for him to be found. With FB messages flying back and forth, my friend Lori Payne was able to help me get specific info to where the accident happened. Turns out to have happened just 20 miles south of me. Since being in the middle of nowhere, I knew he wouldn’t go far, as there is no water for miles. I know that stretch of road very very well. So, off I went this morning, with enough gear to do a search for him. And, by the grace of God, I found him. Happy, energetic, uninjured but very thirsty. I have given him over to Officier Darlington, of Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, who has been out here 3 times trying to find him, took to where he will be cared for until the owners family can get him.

  3. SO HAPPY that the dog was located and is safe. How is the driver of the car. I am worried and supportive of her. It was she who was making the sacrifice to transport the dog. She is in my prayers and thoughts.

  4. I am not sure the place you’re getting your information, however good
topic. I needs too spend some time learning more or understanding
more. Thank you for fantastic information I was in search of
    thjs information for my mission.

  5. I’m glad to hear that the dog has been found safe. Not many people (or in this case a dog) can get away unscathed especially when a car flips over. This is a wonderful story mostly because the dog was able to find his way home to his family.
