Ocho is handsome and purebred – he is young (for all intents and purposes, a puppy at barely a year of age), and he is sick, which puts him at risk of being put down at a busy animal control agency in Florida. The one-year-old German shepherd is being held at the Miami-Dade Animal Services facility, and during his time there (since September 26) he has fallen ill.
On Tuesday, the volunteer-run Facebook page, Urgent Dogs of Miami, posted a photo which shows green discharge coming from Ocho’s nose, and an urgent comment about the severity of his situation:
BEYOND URGENT!! This poor angel is just a year old and look at what a few weeks at the shelter has done to him 🙁 This is the sad reality of shelter life. Even the healthiest dogs will eventually become sick 🙁 Ocho CANNOT stay there any longer. He needs rescue ASAP.
At busy animal control agencies, sick, injured and surrendered pets are often the first in line to be put down – Ocho has managed to skirt the odds since his arrival three weeks ago, but he needs the help of strangers to get him out of the facility, and to a veterinarian, as soon as possible.
