A puppy died during an armed robbery this week in Rosenberg, Texas. According to ABC 7 News, Cesar Garcia, a dog breeder, was meeting with a prospective buyer, identified as 28-year-old Jose Cruz, on Tuesday when things turned deadly.

Garcia said that he was showing Cruz his two French bulldog puppies on Tuesday afternoon when a man with a gun showed up in his driveway. Garcia feared for his life and ran inside of his house – the armed man, who was working with an accomplice, grabbed the registration paperwork, along with the two puppies, and ran to a car.

Tragically, one of the stolen puppies was dropped and as the men sped away from the scene, they ran over the puppy with the car. According to KHOU News, Cruz is believed to have been part of the puppy theft and he was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery. Cruz was taken to the Ford Bend County Jail.
