In a despicable act of animal cruelty, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, co-founder Jackie O’Sullivan, described how she felt on Monday morning when told how the two-pound puppy the organization rescued from the Animal Care Centers of New York City arrived at the shelter.
“We have unfortunately learned some very disturbing and heartbreaking news that this innocent two-pound puppy was actually found by a police in a garbage can. How despicable is that?,” Jackie asked. “This little guy was discarded like rubbish – in pain and suffering. I am sickened by this horrible act.”
On Sunday, the New York City shelter reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, as the nine-week-old puppy presented with open abscesses erupting all over his tiny body. Arrangements were immediately made to transport the puppy, dubbed Finley to the rescue organization’s partner veterinarian where the puppy remains on intravenous pain medication and antibiotics pending the results of blood tests and cultures.
The frightened puppy is now receiving the help he desperately needs. For the first 24-hours of emergency treatment, Finley’s veterinarian costs have exceeded $1,000. Follow Finley’s desperate plight to survive on Facebook as updates are made available.
