In Levittown, Long Island, a heartless driver fatally struck a dog and left the scene without even bothering to offer any help, reports the LongIslandNews.

On Sunday, authorities released images of the incident which occurred on September 20th at 4:00 p.m. on Center Lane. A woman had been walking her Dachshund named Peanut with an extender leash when the pup wandered out in the street and was struck by a vehicle and killed. That person, driving a blue Chrysler Pacifica, stopped for a moment and then just left. Peanut’s owner,  66-year-old Marie Delpapa, is devastated and can’t understand how anyone could just run over a dog and not bother to stop.

Police are asking that area residents share the photo to help identify the person driving the vehicle, Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nassau County Second Squad at 516.573.6253. A $2,000 reward has been offered by the Nassau SPCA  for information leading to the person’s arrest.

Rest in peace Peanut.

  1. There’s so much evil in this world. How can you hit a dog or anybody and just run away. You have no heart. I hope when they catch him they give him life in prison. That’s still not good enough for him or her…

  2. Can’t understand why someone hits a dog and doesn’t stop? Their high, driving without a license, or more than likely just don’t care. Many won’t stop if they hit person. I’m so sorry for Ms Delpapa to witness this and not have someone even stop to offer help is heartless. Rest in peace Peanut,
