A Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania man was sentenced on Tuesday to spend from two-and-a-half to six years in state prison for sealing pet ferrets in a box, taping it shut and tossing them to drown in the Susquehanna River, reports the Times Leader. michael-craige

Michael A. Craige, 23, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and additional charges of perjury, criminal mischief and assault which included beating up a woman and crashing a car he didn’t have permission to drive.  According to court records, Craige, 23, stole the pets from Rochelle Edwards on July 27 2015, and taped them inside a cardboard box. At the  Black Diamond Bridge near West Academy Street, Craige tossed them into the river. A witness tried to stop him, but Craige ignored the pleas.

The motive for Craige killing the woman’s pets is unknown, however Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas barred Craige from adopting any more pets and ordered him to pay $200 in restitution to Edwards.

  2. Filthy POS deserves to be bound and gagged, then thrown into the middle of the Susquehanna River where he’ll sink to the bottom like a rock. Those ferrets were innocent, but this piece of trash is pure evil.
