Not every animal surrender is a willful act of neglect, cruelty or indifference. Sadly Vayder’s elderly owner was no longer able to care for him. The Malinois mix, who understands Romanian, is stressed living in a shelter kennel at the San Bernardino City Shelter. After all for ten years he was part of a family – and then suddenly he is alone and frightened.
According to shelter volunteer, Andrea Neyses, Vayder’s former owner continues to be very worried about her dog. When reluctantly surrendering him, she included a lengthy note describing how he was cared for – right down to Vayder’s every four weeks bath ritual and preventative care for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Volunteers have been taught a few words of Romanian to help Vayder adjust and feel just a bit more comfortable. Vayder is well-behaved and gentle. Facebook pages for Vayder can be found here and here.
Kristin **** “I hope he finds a home. I have a Mali, and they are amazing dogs. From the care letter left with him, his owner did a great job taking care of his minor health issues. I sure hope someone gives him the home he deserves or a shepherd/mal rescue swoops in for him.”
San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is located at 333 Chandler Place, San Bernardino, California. Closed Sunday and Monday Telephone: (909) 384-1304. Ask for information about A498947.
