Outrage over cat strapped to trunk of car on Beltway

A young woman was so outraged after seeing a cat strapped to the trunk of a car traveling along Virginia’s Beltway earlier this week, she videoed the situation and posted the footage on Facebook hoping someone would help rescue the cat.

According to Wusa9 News, vet tech Jessica Wright, followed the car and confronted the driver who told her the cat in the apparently humane trap was feral. Both cars were driving about 60 m.p.h. – obviously not very comfortable for any animal – much less a cat strapped in the wind -being transported on top of a vehicle’s trunk.

“I was really upset about it. I just can’t imagine in what world you wouldn’t think that; that wouldn’t be incredibly inhumane, but also like socially unacceptable,” Jessica told Wusa News.

Fairfax County Animal Protection Officer Kim England says that while this method of transporting animals isn’t preferred, it’s not necessarily illegal, but nonetheless frustrating why anyone would do this. An investigation on related issues is currently active.

The driver did release the strapped cat at another location. Jessica and her friends tried unsuccessfully to find the frightened feline – stating the cat most likely belonged to someone since the person had no trouble getting the cat out of the cage. It hurts the heart knowing humans can be so mean to defenseless and innocent animals.

  1. BEAUTIFUL CAT!!!!! WE PRAY EVERYDAY THAT GOD AND JESUS WILL GIVE ALL LOVING ANIMALS WONDERFUL LOVING FOREVER HOMES AND HEALTHY BODIES!!!

  2. The scumbag admitted it let the cat out of the cage. In other words, this piece of filth abandoned the cat somewhere after trapping the poor thing. Odds are the cat belongs to one of its neighbors and the scum decided to remove the cat from its vicinity. I really hope the cops are looking into THAT.

    • I think you are correct: this POS decided to get rid of a neighbor’s cat. Absolutely disgusting and cruel. That poor cat…… I would hope legal action for animal cruelty was pursued and charges filed…..

Our cats have always been totally indoors (I was afraid of big birds of prey snatching them), but this POS provides another reason: avoid catnapping……
