After years of separation, a senior dog has been reunited with her owner. According to Friday’s WMUR News, Dan Levesque’s dog, “Taz,” disappeared from his yard in Laconia, New Hampshire, four long years ago – his heart was so broken by her loss that he never got another dog.

When Taz first vanished, Levesque searched the area and reported her missing to the local humane society, but his searches were fruitless. Everything changed when someone found Taz wandering around Laconia and decided to pick her up and take her to the New Hampshire Humane Society.

Thanks to an embedded microchip, Levesque learned that Taz had been found – on September 7, the New Hampshire Humane Society alerted its Facebook followers about the wonderful reunion:

It was a happy day at NHHS! Taz has been missing for four years and today she was reunited with her family!! We are so happy for Taz and her family!

Taz has some age related health issues that need to be addressed – a GoFundMe account has been created to help her owner get Taz the help that she needs. Click here to read more.

In light of the happy reunion, the shelter seized the opportunity to remind pet owners about the importance of microchips:

This story is also be a reminder to keep your pets microchip information up to date. Not sure if your most current phone number is listed? Give the microchip company a call! Without her chip Taz may have never been reunited with her family.
