In Victoria, Canada, a hostile kitty named ‘Baby’ attacked seven pit bulls out for their daily walk without any provocation, reports the Sun.

Dog walker Kyla Grover had been walking the peaceful pack of pooches when suddenly Baby started flagging her sharp claws at the dogs.

“The dogs were walking by completely minding their own business,” explained Kyla. “The cat just goes at all of the dogs, not backing down. The cat is swiping at them and latched onto one of the dog’s faces. I got bit and scratched in the process of trying to separate them.”

None of the dogs tried to fight back, but were reported to have barked aloud in pain after the merciless attack by the mean feline with the ferocious temper. Kyla spent the night in the emergency room being treated for cat bites. One dog named Bandida had to spend time at the veterinarian office having the deep cuts to his face treated.

As to Baby, the cat’s owner, Del Thompson had no idea why his 16-year-old senior cat attacked the dogs except to say that sometimes cats and dogs don’t get along. Normally the moody kitty would have been scared of the dogs Thompson explained, but the owners did agree to pay the vet bill for Bandida. Thompson’s wife, Betty Jean, 78, claims this entire event has been exaggerated and that her cream colored kitty was just being protective of her when the dogs walked by.

“There is no ambush about it. Somebody is blowing this all up,” claimed Betty Jean.

Javiera Rodriguez, Bandida’s owner, wanted to use this as an example of how pit bulls are just like any other dogs; stressing they are great family pets and that none of the dogs even tried to fight back while being attacked by Baby.

  1. Another reason why cats really don’t need to be allowed to roam outdoors. My three are indoor-only and they get along great with our three dogs. I’m wondering if perhaps this cat had been attacked by a dog at some time in the past?

    • Very likely so…..and has learned over his 16 years that running away from dogs is the WORST thing to do……excites the dogs and turns many or most of them into predators who will then catch and kill the cat.

Can’t believe how people here (not you) are making comments like “vicious cat”/ “ban cats” etc over this, when dogs kill cats daily, without any repercussions (and no articles written about it either).

  2. Poor pups, I can attest to the viciousness of cats, that’s why my 7lb cat ruled the house of German Shepherds. The Shepherds new better than to tick off Muffy Kittie!

    • Doesn’t mean the cat was “vicious”…..cats are SO small compared to most dogs, they HAVE to learn to be assertive……my female cat is absolutely the “boss” of our other cat and our dog…..but she has never hurt anyone.

  3. Do Dogs feel better now? And a Cat? I know Cats…hmmm. There is always a reason of the attack. I am not talking about these sweet Dogs. The raason can be different….l worry about all of Them. A Cat and Dogs…l love all of Them???

    • I love them both too, and have always owned both……
I’m sure the cat saw what appeared to him to be a PACK of dogs coming toward him, and attacked, thinking to save his life……often cats run away from dogs and that is the worst thing they can do. Most who do that end up dead.

  4. Absolutely awesome ..let’s ban cats now .. Had the tables been turned it would have seen these dogs getting killed for mauling a cat … Hope dogs are ok and thx for posting this

    • PLEASE. Have you EVER heard or read of any dog being euthanized for attacking/ killing a cat? I sure haven’t……Recently there were several incidents, including one where the dogs’ owner encouraged the dogs to kill the harmless cat (which they did) and nothing was done about it……….

If you weighed about 12 lbs, and saw what looked to you like a PACK of dogs coming toward you, what would you do? The cat was being aggressive to, as I’m sure he saw it, to save his life.

    • I once had a co-worker who used to BRAG how her dog would BRING HER back the heads of cats he killed every night….usually SEVERAL HEADS per night……

I’m, as you know, a cat and dog lover/ owner…..but to read the reactions of people here, “ban cats”, “keep this cat inside forever” etc…….when dogs kill cats ROUTINELY and no, as you know, NO dog has ever been euthanized for killing a cat as one person wrote…….

The level of misunderstanding and fear and hostility that even so-called animal advocates (not all of them, of course!) show toward cats amazes me…….

    • Considering the number of dogs that DO attack and kill cats, often with NO provocation, this indoor/outdoor cat has CLEARLY learned to be assertive with dogs……when he saw THAT MANY large dogs together, his mind probably thought “dog pack” and “attack”, meaning that THEY would attack him…..a sensible decision if you weigh about 12 lbs.

Can’t believe people here are blowing this out of proportion! “Vicious cats”/ “ban cats” etc.

    • So, would you say the same thing about a dog that killed a cat? Something that happens DAILY……should the dog involved have to wear a muzzle from then on? Of course not…..the cat THOUGHT it was defending itself from a pack of dogs. If he had run away, (and if it had been a pack) he’d have been killed.
