Man breaks into home to save dog from fire

A New York man went to great lengths to save a dog from an imaginary fire at his neighbor’s home. Unfortunately, the Halfmoon resident’s efforts resulted in felony charges. The reason this “hero” landed behind bars is the result of a combination of a bad drug cocktail, and, no fire, reported Friday’s WNYT News.

The misinformed, or some may say delusional, hero, who was hallucinating after taking LSD and cough medicine, has been identified as 43-year-old Michael Orchard. Orchard is charged with burglary and criminal mischief (felonies) because he drove through a fence, and smashed out a slider, to save the resident’s dog from the house fire that only he could see.

Orchard was standing “heroically” in the front yard, with the dog cradled in his arms, when the authorities arrived, reported New Channel 13. When asked to hand over the “rescued” dog, Orchard did so without incident.

Orchard was taken to the Saratoga County Jail.
